While www.saukprairie.com gets lots of hits on its employment opportunities page, often the job postings expire, or are only seen by active job seekers. A new technique being used is employment branding. The idea is simple: create pieces of content (articles, videos, etc.) that convey the uniqueness of your company via storytelling and you’ll attract top talent who like what your company is about. As employers, we know that the best employees are the ones who feel connected to the business. Doesn’t it just make sense to share publicly all the things that make your current employees happy about working for you? Make sure to be authentic in how you tell your story, and let the power of storytelling work for you.
Companies investing in Employment Branding are building digital assets. They’re creating stories and turning them into pieces of online content they can share on all their social channels repeatedly. Once a piece of content is created, they can use it over and over again to help them spread the word about how great it is to work at their company and it doesn’t cost any more money. Not to mention, the more the content gets seen, the higher it climbs in search rankings, eventually attracting its own viewers without having to promote it.
Not only can you attract better candidates when you use employment branding, you also get the general population to see you’re good to your employees, making it easier for them to feel good about buying your products and services. In short, employment branding saves you money on recruiting while simultaneously making money for your business.
For additional ideas on how to make connections and grow your business, I encourage you to look inside this edition of Chamber News. Think about your employees and how best to
engage them with community events. Perhaps it’s our Young Professional Group, working on a Chamber committee, or attending one of our three monthly events such as Get Moving Sauk Prairie, Lunch-N-Learn or Business After Five. Whatever your age, interest, line of work or business need, the Chamber has the resources to help. Events abound in October – thank you to the many people who make this a great community to live, work & play!

Employment Branding…the new trend in recruitment.
Wanted: Holiday Light Parade entries!
Enter your business or non-profit group in to the Light Parade and receive:
• Free publicity
• Possible prize money
• Enjoyment of being involved in a fun event for the community
The parade is free to enter and is a way to advertise your business or group and events to 3,000+ people. In addition, the Chamber advertises the parade on Madison radio stations and in area papers to draw visitors to our area. The parade is broadcast by TV43 in Baraboo and videos of the parade are posted on YouTube, websites, and social media. Where else can you get that kind of exposure for FREE?!? There is prize money available to parade entries! Most importantly, of course, this is a community event and a way to showcase all the great business, events, and spirit this area has to offer.
Haven’t entered because you don’t have a trailer for a float? What about decorating a boat/snowmobiles on a trailer? You can walk in the parade too- just get some glow sticks or battery-operated lights for your group. Sing songs, carry an iPad with some wireless speakers and play your favorite Holiday playlist… there are so many easy things you can do!
