    Brief description on the Organization:

The Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology-IMMT, (formerly Regional Research

Laboratory, Bhubaneswar) was setup as a premier establishment of the Council of Scientific &

Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi in 1964 in the State of Odisha, in eastern India. The

laboratory specializes in providing R&D support for process and product development with

special emphasis on conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources. The laboratory

has expertise in conducting technology oriented programmes in mining and mineral/bio-mineral

processing, metal extraction and materials characterization, process engineering, industrial waste

management, pollution monitoring and control, marine and forest products development,

utilization of medicinal and aromatic plants and appropriate technologies for societal

    development.

A brief about the PS-I Programme:

Practice School programme comprises of two parts. First, an orientation programme where the

students will visit several departments of IMMT and interact with various scientists of the

respective departments, get to know about various important projects running in the respective

divisions and understand the status quo between research and its need in various sectors of the

society. Second, they will participate in a project under the supervision of a scientist which will

give them an insight about researching in a cutting edge project in a CSIR laboratory and

    knowledge about the specific project.
