Dental team news
We have successfully trained and supported Rachel Carr, Lisa Johnson and Heather Pendlebury through their dental nursing apprenticeships and we are proud of their achievements. The practice works closely with Bury College and fi rmly believes in the value of the apprenticeship scheme.
We do not take advantage of the opportunity to pay low salaries, rather we choose to pay an honourable wage, and in return we receive loyalty and dedication from our trainees.
By training our nurses from scratch it has allowed us to nurture their skills and abilities, which helps to develop a strong bond and team spirit, as well as producing staff members who understand and can deliver our practice philosophy.
We would recommend using the apprenticeship scheme to any business owners or managers, with the caveat that you get out of your staff what you invest in them.
A special thank you goes to Stephanie Marrison and Emma Neary for all their support and guidance, the trainees have

Did you know?
It has been long documented that good standards of dental hygiene which cut down on gum disease, can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Yet now, researchers at West Virginia University have linked clean teeth and gums with helping to reduce the number of cases of dementia.
‘Older people might want to know there’s more reason to keep their mouths clean (to brush and fl oss) than ever,’ said Richard Crout, D.M.D. Ph.D., an expert on gum disease and Associate Dean for Research in the WVU School of Dentistry. ‘You’ll not only be more likely to keep your teeth, but you’ll also reduce your risk of heart attack, stroke and memory loss.’*
The oral advice you receive from your hygienist can make a real difference to the quality of dental care you perform at home in between dental visits. The importance of removing decay and preventing gum disease cannot be overstated.
Many people do not dedicate the required two minutes twice a day to brush effectively. Electric toothbrushes and inter-proximal brushes can drastically improve the way you clean your teeth, as too can a suitable mouthwash. Please ask your dentist or hygienist for advice regarding your oral hygiene routine at your next visit.
To encourage you to improve your oral health routine we have put together a special offer. (Buy Periogard Mouthwash for only £1.50 when purchased with any pack of inter-proximal brushes. This highly effective mouthwash is usually priced £4, but for only £5 we will give you a pack of brushes costing £3.50 and a bottle of Periogard!) Your dentist or hygienist will advise you as tothe size of inter-proximalbrushes best suited toyour needs. Offer applieswhilst stocks last.
