    PRACTICAL 3A:

    WEEK 9: TOPIC 6: PRESENTATION (POWERPOINT 2010)

    MODULE OUTCOME 2:

    To apply the suitable office application to fulfill given task.

    PRACTICAL OBJECTIVES:

    At the end of the practical session, student should be able to:

    Create, edit, and format presentation.

    Insert objects such as graphics and pictures into a presentation.

    PRACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS:

    SITUATIONAfter 3mmonths of the restaurants opening, you have been advised to find an investor or

    interested individual to invest in your new business.

    TASK 1: (30 MARKS)You have to present how your business will looks like to the investor (your lecturer). In

    order to complete this task, you have to work in pair. Create the slides according to the

    stated standard and insert the following contents into your slides presentation:

    1. First slide- Use Title slide for the first slide. Select Apothecary theme at Design

    tab. Type the name of your restaurant at Click to add title placeholder. At Click to

    add subtitle placeholder, type your group name. Change the theme colour to

    NewsPrint.

    2. Second slide- Insert new slide with Title and Content outline. At the Click to add

    title placeholder, type Business Description. At Click to add text placeholder,

    choose Insert SmartArt Graphic icon. Choose Vertical Box List. Click Text and type

    Business Location and Business Operational Hours in each block as the heading.

    Add appropriate information at each blank box.

    Hint: Type your business address in Business Locations box.

    3. Third slide- Insert new slide with Title and Content outline. Type Variety of Foods at

    Click to add title placeholder. At Click to add text placeholder, choose Insert

    SmartArt Graphic icon and select Bending Picture Semi-Transparent Text. Insert

    the picture of your served food by clicking to the picture icon. Insert up to four (4)

    good quality pictures. Then, click Text and type the name of food in each box.

    4. Forth slide- Insert new slide with Title and Content outline. At the Click to add title

    placeholder, type List of Price. At Click to add text placeholder, choose add Insert

    Table icon. Define number of columns 3 and number of rows 5. Insert data as

    below:

    5. Fifth slide- Insert new slide with Comparison outline. At the Click to add title

    placeholder, type The Strength of [your restaurants name] Against Main Competitor.

    At the top of click to add text placeholder, type your restaurants name on the left

    side of the slide and the name of your main competitor on the right side. Click at the

    Click to add text placeholder and list down the strengths of your restaurant as well

    as your main competitor.

    6. Sixth slide- Insert new slide with Two Content outline. At the Click to add title

    placeholder, type Number of Customers. At Click to add text placeholder, choose

    Insert Chart. Select Column Chart for your restaurant and Bar Chart for competitor.

    Type the restaurants name at charts title accordingly. Create charts according to the

    data below:

    2. Youth (13 to 17 years old)

    3. Young Adult (18-23years old)

    4. Adult (24- 35 years old)

    WEEK 10: TOPIC 6: PRESENTATION (POWERPOINT 2010)

    PRACTICAL OBJECTIVES:

    At the end of the practical session, student should be able to:

    Arrange slides, insert audio and video.

    Apply transition and animation effects into a presentation.

    Run a slide show.

    PRACTICAL INSTRUCTIONS:

    TASK 1: (22 MARKS)You have to make some amendments on your previous slide as you need to highlightsome points and add a few elements into your slides. Work in pair and insert thefollowing points into your slides presentation:

    1. Open your earlier slide presentation (Practical 3A). Move slide 6 before slide 5. In

    slide 1, insert a logo of your restaurant at the top of the slide. Then, type yourrestaurants motto and place it at the bottom of the slide.

    Hint: Use text box

    2. Insert new slide with Two Content outline. At the Click to add title placeholder, type

    Media Clips. At the left Click to add text placeholder, type AUDIO, then click Insert

    Tab, and choose Insert audio. Select Audio from file and pick any audio from media

    library or you may choose from your own storage device. At the right Click to add

    text placeholder, type VIDEO, then click Insert Tab, choose Video button and

    choose Video From File. Choose video file and click Insert Button. You can chooseany video you like.

    3. Apply transition to slide 1. Choose any transition effect under Exciting category.

    Next, apply same transition effect to slide 2 until slide 6. Choose any transition under

    Dynamic Content category.

    4. In slide 3, apply animation to pictures in content placeholder. Choose Float Up. Addthe pictures effect by clicking to the picture. Choose Picture Effects under Picture

    Tools Format and select Preset 5. Apply the same effects to all pictures. In slide 5,

    apply animation to the charts. Choose Fade for both column chart and bar chart. In

    the last slide, apply animation to the list of strength for both restaurants in the content

    placeholder. Choose Random Bars for both contents.

    5. View your slides presentation by using Slide Show view at slide show tab and

    choose From Beginning to start the slide show from the first slide or press Shift +

    F5.

    EXPECTED COMPLETION TIME:

    120 minutes in computer laboratory.
