Downloading IDEA

l Youmust have an active IDEA support account. Your credentialsfor your IDEA support account gives you access to the old IDEAsupport website (www.ideasupport.caseware.com). This is not tobe confused with the credentials used to access your newCaseWare Analytics support account on the new CaseWareAnalytics Support Portal.

l IDEA Site License users cannot use Check for Updates todownload the latest version of IDEA. Please contact your ITDepartment or your IDEA Administrator.

This document details how to download the latest version of IDEA (for currentIDEA Version Nine users only) using:

l the Check for Updates feature

l the IDEA Support website

l the CaseWare Partner Portal to provide a download link to clients

If you cannot download the latest version of IDEA using these twomethods, contact CaseWare Analytics Support.

Using Check for Updates

IDEA Version Nine users can download the latest version of IDEA using theCheck for Updates feature.

1. To open IDEA, right-click on the IDEA icon (from the Start menu, or fromthe Apps page, etc.) and select Run as administrator.

2. On the File tab, click Help.

3. From the Tools for Working with IDEA section, click Check forUpdates.

The IDEA Updates Available for Download dialog box appears.

4. Click Download.

The sign in page for the old IDEA Support website appears in your defaultinternet browser window.

5. Enter the Email and Password information associated with your IDEAsupport account.

6. Click SIGN IN >>.

You are directed to the IDEA Updates pages in the support website.

7. From the right side of the page, under Download, from the Region drop-down list, select the region that applies to you.

8. Under the specified region, click Download.

9. Once you have downloaded the installation file, follow the instructions inthe IDEA Installation Guide.

Downloading IDEA from the IDEA Support Website

IDEA Version Nine users can download the latest version of IDEA directly fromthe old IDEA Support website.

1. In a web browser, go to www.ideasupport.caseware.com.

2. Enter the Email and Password information associated with your IDEAsupport account.

3. Click SIGN IN >>.

4. On the right side of the page, in the Download IDEA section, click latestVersion of IDEA.

The Download IDEA page appears.

You will need to enter your installation key for your IDEA product. Theinstallation key is displayed in the About IDEA section, on the Help page ofthe File tab in IDEA.

5. In the Installation Key field, enter your installation key for your IDEAproduct.

6. Click DOWNLOAD.

The next page displays your installation key an lets you select theappropriate region and language.

7. From the Select region drop-down list, select the region that applies toyou.

8. From the Select language drop-down list, select the appropriate language.

9. Click DOWNLOAD.

10. Once you have downloaded the installation file, follow the instructions inthe IDEA Installation Guide.

Providing a Download Link to Clients

CaseWare Analytics Partners can provide their IDEA Version Nine users with adownload link to the latest version of IDEA.

1. Log in to the CaseWare Analytics Portal(https://distributors.casewareanalytics.com).

2. Click Clients and Orders.

3. In the LicenseManagement tab, click the License Management buttonassociated with the client to whom you want to provide the link.

4. From the drop-down list, select View Licenses.

The View All Licenses page appears.

5. Select the check box for the appropriate product package.

6. At the bottom of the page, click Download Link Recovery.

A dialog box appears where you can input the reason for the download linkrecovery.

7. Enter the following information:

l The number of days in which the link will expire.

l The product language. To get a download link for IDEA 10.0.1, youmust select English.

l The product encoding (ASCII or Unicode).

l The appropriate IDEA Version.

l A comment on why you are requesting the download link recovery.

13. Click Submit.

The Download Link Recovery.txt file appears.

14. Email the entire link at the top of the page to your client. (Please note that inthe image above, part of the link has been blurred for privacy reasons.)

15. The client must enter the link in the address bar of their web browser. Thefollowing page is displayed.

16. From the Select region drop-down list, select the region that applies toyou.

17. Click Download.

If you selected to provide a link for an IDEA Server package, the DownloadServer button appears also. The client must click both download links. Ifyou selected to provide a link for an IDEA package only, only the oneDownload link button appears to the client.

18. Once the client has downloaded the installation file, they must follow theinstructions in the IDEA Installation Guide.
