Communication is a process. Meaning steps have to be taken and in a set/particular order to achieve a desired result/goal.

Element of Communication

Process

• These are the important elements of the communication

process:

1. Sender : Sender is an individual, group, or organization

who initiates the communication

2. Message: A message can be an idea, concept, emotion,

feeling that a person wants to share with another person

3. Encoding : When a sender attempts to replicate his or her

internal thoughts or feelings into some kind of external

message medium for the sake of transmitting those

thoughts or feelings to another person or persons.

4. Channel: It’s the medium through which communication is

transmitted from one person to the receiver

5. Receiver:

Receiver is the individual or individuals to whom the

message is directed to

6. Decoding:

Decoding is the process where the message is

interpreted by the receiver

7. Feedback:

Feedback is an integral part of communication process

that allows the speaker to monitor the process.

Feedback is important to evaluate the success of the

message communicated

8. Noise

There are certain barriers present in the communication

process.

Ex: Sounds, Language, venue, etc

When we want to speak to a person, we

automatically do several things:

• Make sure he/she is listening to us

• Want to secure his/her attention

• Get him/her involved

• Check that what we have said has been

understood
