We believe that Fendolite MII is the only passive coating system to have full Lloyd`s Jet Fire type
approval without a prescribed increase in material thicknesses and furthermore for Jet Fire rating
period s of up t o 4 ho urs.
This mea ns tha t structures an d vessels alread y protected using Fend olite MII ma y be deem ed to be
equally fire rated for both Hydrocarbon Pool Fire and the potentially more destructive fire scenario
crea ted by e rosive Jet Fire impingem ent .
“ Jet Fire” resista nce is increasing ly being required fo r the protection o f steel structures w ithin the oil
an d g as, and petrochemical industries. This type o f t esting evolved from t he recogn ition t ha t f ire
resulting from the rupture of pressurised vessels could result in much more destructive fire scenarios
tha n th ose involved in sta nda rd hydrocarbon fuelled po ol fires.
Fend olite MII w as introduced t o t he ma rket in or aroun d 1980 and ha s been used extensively on a
worldwide basis for fire protection on onshore structures, particularly hydrocarbon processing
fa cilities. The structures prot ected include, structura l ste el, pipe ra cks, eq uipmen t, sto rag e vessels,
vessel suppo rts, con cret e be a ms and tu nne l lining s.
Structures protected w ith Fendo lite MII have bee n subjected to a w ide rang e o f Fire Resista nce tests
un de r a w ide va riety o f f ire scena rios. The se include , Cellulosic, Hyd roca rbo n, RWS typ e hig h-rise (
upto 1350°C ) and various Jet fire test conditions. Some of these tests have also included thermalshock tests w ith very erosive hig h pressure w at er imping emen t af ter f ire exposure.
The close collera tion in the p erfo rma nce of Fendo lite MII a nd a no th er CAFCO Int erna tion a l prod uct,
Mandolite 550. Which is specifically designed for use on Offshore structures has meant that Lloyd`s
have accepted that the following Jet Fire tests on Mandolite 550 can now also be applied to
Fen do lit e MII.
