FSAN Introduction

The Full Service Access Network (FSAN) Group is an interest group for services providers and vendors to specify applicable standards. FSAN was started in 1995 FSAN has over 80 member companies representing the implementers, manufacturers, and test houses for PON Systems. FSAN’s significant works

WDM-PON

Each ONU is served by one or more dedicated wavelengths.

A number of OLT Tx/Rx components map PON client signals onto separate wavelengths, which are multiplexed onto a shared, bidirectional fiber

Two kinds of WDM PONPoint to point WDM PONhybrid WDM PON : a wavelength (especially upstream) may be shared by two or more ONUs

A wavelength control block (λ control) may be present to control the transmitted and received wavelengths and the respectively connected ONUs.

Summary

FSAN has decided the TDWDM-PON is chosen to be the main NGPON2 technology.

P2P WDM-PON will be used in little scenario.

G.989 is started to be drafted in ITU

The real application of NGPON2 will be after 2015

10GEPON and XGPON1 will be used as migration to the next generation PON, but they will last for long time.
