Read the passage below and answer the question that follows.

Nowadays, people are concerned for and conscious of the environment. There are many ways of

reducing pollution in our country. There are many campaigns being carried out on how to reduce air and

water pollution.

Many of our rivers are polluted. We can prevent this by throwing rubbish such as plastic bags, bottles

and cans into rubbish dumps and rubbish collection areas. We should not throw rubbish into rivers. It

kills the fish. Besides, mosquitoes breed in rubbish and clogged drains. This also pollutes the air because

it causes a foul smell around the area.

Do not throw away used items like bottles, containers and aluminium cans. They can be recycled.

Even the old newspapers can fetch money and we can also help to save more trees from being cut down.

We must not burn grass, leaves and twigs which produce smoke. This smoke is hazardous to our

health. Use unleaded petrol when we drive a vehicle.

With healthy environmental practice, the world will be a better place to live in,
