Implementation guidance Internet connection to Azure (Azure Backup or Azure Blob storage) via the Azure Backup Server or 3rd party solutions (such as Commvault Simpana or Veeam Cloud Connect) hosted on premises.

Examples of business applications running on a virtualized or physical machine on premises.

Disk used by your virtual or physical machine.

Azure Backup Server orchestrates the replication of machines and manages the configuration of the failback procedures.

Azure Backup extends tried-and-trusted tools on-premises with rich and powerful tools in the cloud. It delivers protection for customers’ data no matter where it resides: in the enterprise data center, in remote and branch offices, or in the public cloud; while being sensitive to the unique requirements these scenarios pose. 

Virtual machine hosted on premises or on Azure that’s running an application such as SQL or SharePoint.

Blob storage stores the backup data and application on Azure.
