DATA
COLLECTION
The PPSQ is a scalemeasuring the parentsperceptions and opinionsof the interventionsreceived preoperatively, which covered theappro- priateness, adequacy, relevancy, understanding, and useof preoperativeinformation and skills tohelp their children copewith the stress of surgery
The data collectionlasted for 13 months. Atotal of 203 childrenalong with their parentswere recruited. Theresponse and attritionrates were 88% and 18%,respectively. Of the 203children and parents, 106were randomly assignedto the control group and97 were assigned to theexperimental group.

The information from this study will promoteawareness in nurses and parents that play is avery important part of childrens lives andthey need play even when they are ill.
