INTRODUCTION WHY WE CAN’T SEE AT NIGHT? HOW WE CAN SEE AT NIGHT? NIGHT VISION TECHNIQUES IMAGE INTENSIFICATION PROCESS THERMAL IMAGING PROCESS ADVANTAGES &APPLICATIONS CONCLUSION

INTRODUCTION Night vision technology provides us the

miracle of vision in total darkness and the improvement of vision in low light environment.

It was invented by United states for strategic military advantage.

With the help of night vision devices we can see a person standing over 200yards(183m) away on a moon less cloudy night.

In order to understand night vision it is important to understand something about light.

Electro Magnetic Spectrum

The light we “see”

Reflection

Emission

Why

can’t we see at night?

8

No Source (or Insufficient) in Visible Region?

No Reflection – Can’t See.

No Emission within Visible Region?

Again Can’t See.

9

What is the solution?

Create a source

Try to see out of the visible spectrum

or

Amplify the minimum available

or

IMAGE INTENSIFIER IMAGING (Amplifying the minimum available)

This works by

collecting tiny amounts of light, including

the lower portion of the infrared light

spectrum, and amplifying it to the point that

we can easily observe the image This done by image intensifier tube(II TUBE)

THERMAL IMAGINGA Special lens focuses the infrared light emitted by all of the

objects in view.

The detector element creates a detailed temperature pattern called a THERMOGRAM.

The Thermo gram created by the detector elements is translated into electric signals.

These electrical signals are sent to a signal processing unit which translates the information from the elements into data

for the display.

On the display it appears as various gray levels depending on the intensity of the infrared emission.

CONCLUSION

Many people are beginning to discover the unique world that can be found after darkness falls.

If you are out camping or hunting a lot, chances are that night vision devices can be useful to u just be sure to get the right type for your needs.
