ASSESSMENT AND REPORTING

THANKSGIVING AND GIVING THANKSWe give thanks for the many gifts that have been bestowed upon us. Students at Holy Familyhave been exploring themes of Thanksgiving in their work, they collaboration, their art andtheir writings.Thank you to our Grade 4 students and teachers who lead our Thanksgiving VirtualCelebration this week. At Holy Family School we have so many things we have to be thankfulfor and we wish you and your family a wonderful Thanksgiving.

In Edmonton Catholic Schools, we report to parents and students on an ongoing basis. Goneare the days when parents and students would have to wait for a report card to come out justthree times a year. We use a gradebook program that integrates with PowerSchool, calledPowerTeacher Pro, into which teachers input assessment information as it happens. Parentsand students are encouraged to check PowerSchool “Grades and Attendance” regularly tokeep up to-date on student progress. If your child is on an individualized program plan, pleasecheck the IPP for updates regarding student progress. Please click on the image above for more information on assessment and reporting.

BASKETBALL TARMACIf you haven't yet checked out our new Basketball Tarmac on the south side of the school, weencourage you to do that. It is wonderful to have a space that is used by our students andfamilies and our community members!

NUT SENSITIVE LUNCHES AND SNACKSPlease remember that we are a Nut-Sensitive Building. This means that we ask that you do notsend nuts, nut products or foods containing nuts to school with your children. The safety ofthe students and staff in the building are our �rst concern. Some examples of foods that may contain nuts are: -Some Granola Bars-Nutella*-Some Chocolate Bars-Some pre-packaged foods-Some cereals

GR1A SHARES HOW THEY FEELIN SCHOOLOn Orange Shirt Day, 1A talked about how children should feelin school and then created orange shirts sharing their feelings.Students chose the words SAFE, EXCITED and HAPPY.

EDMONTON PUBLIC LIBRARY CARDSThe Edmonton Public Library Card Application is now online. The application form will beaccessed from PowerSchool. Please refer to the following instructions: epl-version-2021-1This form will be accessible all year long through School Engage in PowerSchool. Once theform has been submitted online, the information will go directly to EPL and the cards will besent to our school for distribution.

HOLY FAMILY PARENT COUNCILOn Wednesday, we held an informational Parent Council Meeting. Due to the restrictions, wemet on Teams and had a very small turnout.All parents are welcome to join our meetings and the link is always shared out to our parentcommunity via SWIFT messaging. I will share information in our next Principal Update about how you can get involved and whatthat may mean for you. We encourage all parents to consider attending or becoming involved in the Parent Council asit provides so many great opportunities to continue to make a difference in the educationalexperience of your child(ren).

ECSD STAFF FAITH DEVELOPMENT DAYAll staff of Edmonton Catholic Schools will attend our annual Faith Development Day onOctober 18th. We will gather at our sites as a community of faith to virtually attend mass andpresentations with our entire division as we deepen our faith and renew our commitment. There is NO SCHOOL for all ECSD students on that day.
