One of the things I love most about wine is that it’s such a social drink. By that I mean, it’s meant to be shared. You can tell just by its packaging. Beer and cocktails come in single servings; wine (with the exception of the current trend in cans) comes in a

bottle, with plenty of liquid for two. Wine is a beverage you linger over, and if you

linger long enough, it might even change in the glass, o�ering even more aromas and flavors - and pleasure - as time goes by. Beer and cocktails just get warm! And

nobody can argue that wine inspires conversation. Today, I think, enjoying a

glass of good wine with a partner, family member or friend is more important than ever. Whether via Zoom, Facetime, Skype, or if you’re lucky enough, in person, I hope you’ll soon share a glass or two and toast the social role wine plays in our lives. And

if your glass happens to contain a Flora Springs wine (and we hope it does), send

When we produced our first Hillside Reserve Cabernet from the 1994 vintage, Single Vineyard Cabernets from Napa Valley were quite rare. But John Komes recognized there was something special about a group of vines – Block J – located behind his home on the northwestern edge of the Rutherford appellation. Rather than blending he kept these wine lots separate, and bottled less than 50 cases on their own. The 2017 Rutherford Hillside Reserve is smooth and velvety, with focused black currant, plum and black cherry flavors shaded with hints of vanilla cream, root beer and spice. With bright acidity balancing the wine’s rich texture, this Cabernet deftly balances its fruit and oak and lingers e�ortlessly on a smooth, polished finish. The wine’s firm yet silky tannins promise both immediate drinking pleasure and long term aging potential.

NEW RELEASE: FLORA SPRINGS 2019 SOLILOQUYSummer is here and that signals the release of our flagship white wine, Soliloquy. This one-of-kind wine is named for our proprietary Soliloquy clone of Sauvignon Blanc, a clone unique to Flora Springs and certified by UC Davis as distinct from more common Sauvignon Blanc clones in Napa Valley. We’ve spent thirty years nurturing the Soliloquy clone in our Crossroads Vineyard in Oakville, and have always admired it for its depth and purity of flavor.
