By the Times Staff nj.com/south FRANKLIN TWP. — A Monroe Township man was being sought in connection with the gunshot wounding of a 34-year-old Franklin- ville man outside the vic- tim’s Eagle Lane residence, Gloucester County Pros- ecutor Sean F. Dalton said Friday. Robert A. Bell, 38, of 1056 S. Black Horse Pike, Wil- liamstown, fled the shooting scene about 9:30 p.m. Thursday as a passen- ger in a car that police stopped a short dis- tance away, a spokesman for Dalton said. Bell then fled the car into a wooded area. The car was driven by a sister of the shooting vic- tim, authorities said. Despite an intensive search, Bell had not been found as of late Friday. He may still have the hand- gun used in the shooting, spokesman Bernie Weisen- feld said. Charges signed against Bell include attempted murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful posses- sion of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault. Bail was set by Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall Jr. at $200,000 cash. SWEDESBORO — Swedesboro officials have big plans for the Swedesboro Auction property, a three-acre tract of land on Leahy Avenue that was incorporated into the county’s open space plan this week.

“We are only three-quarters of a square mile, but we are rich in his-tory,” said Diane Hale, a Swedes-boro councilwoman.

Until the mid 1990s, area farm-ers would bring their produce to the Swedesboro market to be sold. Campbell’s Soup Co. was known to make its tomato soup with toma-toes grown at borough farms.

Calling the conduct of two State Police troopers “egregious” and “reckless,” Attorney General Jeffrey Chiesa said Friday they face criminal charges and a pos-sible prison term after serving as an escort for a high-speed cara-van of exotic cars down the Gar-den State Parkway in March.
