• Wastes energy and money (costing money to heat water even when you’re not using hot water)• Takes up valuable space• Your supply of hot water is limited by the size of the tank• Potentially can cause thousands of dollars in water damage if the tank leaks• Not environmentally friendly (60-65% efficient, landfills get piled up with old, bulky tanks)• Parts are not easily repairable or replaceable• Rust and sediment form inside the tank, along with the risk of legionella bacteria• Recommended maintenance requires you to empty the entire tank• Uses a pilot light, which may ignite and cause an explosion• 8-10 Years life expectancy

• Less expensive technology• No minimum flow requirement

technology is backed by over

50 years of development.

• Eliminates energy and money waste- save about 50% more on your energy costs than a tank water heater• Takes up less space since it is wall hung• Never runs out of hot water• Minimizes water damage risk since there is no tank• Does not have a pilot light or standby heat loss• Does not store and reheat water• Environmentally friendly (83-94% efficiency levels)• Majority of the components can be recycled• Parts can be easily replaced• Lasts longer and more durable than tank type water heaters

• Initial high cost investment• Minimum flow requirement to activate unit (0.5 GPM)• Since it is an on-demand system the unit takes a few seconds to activate the burner• Will not work during power outages (back-up power systems are available)

Hot water from a traditional tank-type water heater comes from the stored water in the tank. As the hot water supply is used, cold water enters the tank to replace the hot water that was used, reducing the temperature gradually. Once 60-70% of the stored hot water is used, there will be a signicant drop in temperature and can take about an hour to recover.

Although tank water heaters are insulated to some extent, they still experience standby heat loss causing the unit to constantly heat and reheat the stored water even when the hot water

As years pass, traditional tank-type water heaters start to rust and build-up scale inside the tank, which is where your hot water is being stored for use. Also, there is the risk of legionella bacteria formation.

Water heating can account for 14-25% of the energy consumed in your home and is the second largest energy expense in U.S. households. It’s actually one of the least ecient appliances due to standby heat loss. With the constant storing and heating of the water in the tank, sediment begins to build-up and in time will cause a malfunction of the unit. Typically if your tank water heater warranty is near its end or already past, the sediment build-up may be at a point where it’s only a matter of time before the unit

Because of the storage tank, traditional tank-type water heaters are bulky in size. It takes up valuable space and also limits where the unit can be placed. A traditional tank-type water heater takes up to 13ft2 of space. If 1ft2 is worth $200, that’s $2,600 (13ft2 x $200) worth of space you could be saving with a Noritz. Also for some, the unit can also be unsightly.

isn’t being used. Water heating is the second largest energy cost in the home, so heat lost from the tank is wasted energy and can add up quickly.

breaks down and can possibly cause major water damage.

Page 7: PowerGuide Feb2010

The hot water capacity of an electric tankless water heater is typically not enough for an entire house. Most larger sized electric tankless units require 240 V and over 100 Amps. As a reference, the amperage amount required by an electric tankless is about 5 times more than a typical air conditioning system in a home! Because of this, gas tends to be a more cost-eective fuel and heats water about 50% faster than most electric models, yielding a higher ow rate. Also, electric tankless water heaters do not qualify for the ENERGY STAR Program.

Noritz tankless water heaters are extremely durable, lasting longer than traditional tank-type water heaters, and require little maintenance over their lifetime. Noritz wants you to feel condent using our products so we back all residential heaters with one of the best warranties in the industry.

With a Noritz tankless water heater, you’ll save energy and thus, money. Furthermore, you can save about half of the cost of your current water heating bills since there is no re-heating of water as with traditional water heaters.

A Noritz heats water as it passes through the unit, so you will never have to use hot water that has been stored in an old, rusty tank.

A tankless water heater heats water on demand, so that means no storage or shortage of hot water. Imagine the luxury of always having hot showers or lling up a Jacuzzi hot tub and still having an endless supply of hot water for the rest of your needs.

Noritz condensing units utilize a dual heat exchanger, a fusion of stainless steel and copper heat exchangers. The 100% stainless steel component captures the residual heat from the exhaust temperature to preheat the incoming water before it runs through the main copper heat exchanger. This results in dramatic reduction of carbon dioxide and increases the heater's eciency level to over 93%.

The heat exchanger was re-engineered to increase thermal eciency. The piping is 25% thicker to help prevent condensation and erosion to ensure a longer life.

The addition of a protectant coat to the PC board provides greater durability allowing a Noritz tankless water heater to last longer, even when exposed to the elements. Also, the on-board memory chip stores the error code history for easy maintenance monitoring to ensure your heater runs eciently.

Noritz is the only tankless manufacturer which allows you to connect and control up to 24 units together. With only one system controller our heaters can be connected for an unmatched ow of 316.8 GPM and 9.1 million Btuh. Through this advanced technology Noritz can meet the ow requirements of even the most demanding applications.

Noritz takes pride in its craftsmanship. We only use the nest materials to provide you with the highest level of performance. Our manufacturing process allows us to have direct product quality control. We manufacture all our own major components and we are the only tankless manufacturer in the industry to have implemented the NPS Just-In-Time production line system.

What is ENERGY STAR?

Products that earn the ENERGY STAR use less energy and prevent greenhouse gas emissions by meeting strict energy eciency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy. With energy costs and global warming top-of-mind for consumers, Noritz America is committed to oering solutions that help consumers conserve energy and improve the quality of our environment.

The World's No. 1 Manufacturer of Tankless Water Heater Systems Now Has the Largest Selection of Energy Star Models Available on the Market

ENERGY STAR qualied gas tankless water heaters provide hot water on demand, plus a whole lot more.

The typical household spends $1,900 a year on energy bills. With ENERGY STAR, you can save nearly $600 on energy bills. By choosing Noritz ENERGY STAR qualied tankless water heaters, you can save more than $100 per year on gas bills compared to a standard storage model.

Many local utility companies are recognizing the benets of tankless water heaters and are encouraging this through their rebates. Currently the highest available rebate is $525! Unfortunately, not all utility companies are oering rebates yet, but many are joining in.Check with your installer or noritz.com/1500 for available current rebates.

The Federal tax credit allows homeowners who install any of our qualifying models to claim 30% of the full purchase and installation price up to a maximum of $1500. In order to take advantage of the one-time Federal tax credit, homeowners must install a qualifying unit by December 31, 2010.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) tankless water heaters with an .82 Energy Factor are expected to save a consumer approximately $108 in annual energy costs compared to a typical gas storage water heater. Energy Factor is a measurement of relative energy eciency for a water heater; the higher the Energy Factor, the more energy ecient the water heater.

In ve years, the DOE states that Americans can save $780 million in utility costs, avoid 4.2 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and achieve cumulative energy savings of more than 3.9 billion kilowatt-hours and 270 million therms natural gas by using high eciency water heaters.

Noritz units are drastically smaller than a storage tank. The main components of Noritz tankless water heaters are recyclable and every part is replaceable. Therefore, Noritz signicantly reduces the amount of waste material that ends up in landlls every year.

Less Energy Reduce Global Warming Less Waste

Noritz Fully Modulating BurnersNoritz tankless boilers, the NH series, have borrowed the full-modulation burner technology from its tankless water heaters and applied the same technology. Full-modulation gives excellent turn down ratios and tracking of system demand. This equals less wasted energy and better comfort for the homeowner.

The Noritz boiler is equipped with a fully modulating burner that tracks the needs of the system precisely and provides only the amount of energy required to maintain the system’s set point. This reduces the amount of times the boiler has to turn on and o, dramatically reducing wear and tear on moving parts in the system such as thermostatic controls, pumps and automatic valves. Zone controls and valves also have to work less. Overall, this highly ecient methodology can equate to less fuel consumption to satisfy the same demand! In combination with a highly ecient heat exchanger, Noritz uses this technology to provide the utmost in operating eciency.

Energy Efficient & Space Saving

Noritz is the rst tankless water heater manufacturer to introduce tankless hydronic boilers. The NH Series consists of two models, the NH199-DV and the NH150-DV. These units share the same features as with our other heaters; energy eciency, environmentally friendliness, and of course, the water is always hot whenever you need it.
