A TRUSTED PARTNER IN AFRICAN BUSINESS

With more than 17 years’ experience running conferences and exhibitions in the African utility sector, the power and water portfolio is the largest and longest running portfolio at Spintelligent, a global leader in business-to-business events, publications and training courses. The power and water portfolio features our flagship event, African Utility Week and Clean Power Africa.

Due to fast economic growth in certain regions, Africa’s governments and utilities face challenges keeping up with the rising demand for electricity and water. Chronic power shortages affect about half of the countries and only one person in four has access to electricity. An estimated 300 million people in sub-Saharan Africa do not have access

to water and sanitation, illustrating the importance of enhancing the power and water sector across the continent.

The estimated US$93 billion yearly infrastructure investment needed will create business opportunities for public-private partnerships, investors and solution providers. Spintelligent’s power and water portfolio connects the leading stakeholders in the public and private sector to address the challenges faced by the industry and to share, discuss and debate the future of the Africa’s economy and infrastructure development.

EAST AFRICAN POWER INDUSTRY CONVENTION

27 – 28 August 2015, Nairobi, Kenya26 August: Pre-conference and site visit

www.eapicforum.com

EAPIC is the longest running regional power conference and exhibition in East Africa, offering technical know-how on a broad spectrum of topics and industry relevant issues in the power value chain. It is hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, which is a hub for East African trade and has been home to EAPIC on five occasions over the past 16 years. EAPIC is the trusted meeting place for power and utility stakeholders who gather to share their experience and knowledge and debate strategies that will accelerate the region’s growth.

Both gas and renewables have been growing simultaneously and East Africa has huge potential when it comes to renewable energy. With this in mind EAPIC will launch the East African Power Industry Awards to recognises excellence in power and reward those individuals and companies that have made a significant contribution to the industry and in so doing have played a vital role in the development of East Africa.

WEST AFRICAN POWER INDUSTRY CONVENTION

25 – 26 November 2015, Lagos, Nigeria24 November: Pre-conference workshop

27 November Site visitwww.wapicforum.com

West Africa is the fastest growing region in Africa, representing the continent’s largest business opportunities. There has been an on-going and continuous increase in FDI inflows into the West African region for power sector developments and initiatives. This coupled with good economic conditions and strong forecasts in the region, with particular reference to Nigeria and Ghana, present opportunities for the growth of WAPIC.

WAPIC is now entering its 12th year and it remains the largest and most comprehensive business and knowledge platform for the power industry in West Africa that delivers strategic and technical content for the utilities. The co-location with Metering, Billing & CRM West Africa as well as Manufacturing Partnerships for African Development (mPAD) is key to the technical growth of the exhibition and reinforces its position on the market.

• West Africa’s power sector needs an estimated investment of $25 billion within 10 years to have an efficient, reliable and consistent power supply to the market.

• AFDB is investing EUR 145m for the construction of transmission lines connecting Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Sierra Leone & Guinea.

• The Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry needs 2.8 million metering units to streamline revenue collection.
