DESCRIPTIONThe FenwalNET 2000™ Power Supply Module is amicroprocessor based assembly which provides the sys-tem with 24 VDC power derived from 120 or 220 AC inputpower. The 24 VDC power operates the entire systemincluding the main enclosure hardware and such devicesas SmartOne™ smoke & heat detection devices, Fenwal-NET addressable input and output devices and audible/visual indicating appliances.

The Power Supply Module communicates with the Cen-tral Control Module over the serial RS-485 I/O busswhich also supports the I/O Expansion Modules. In theevent of any trouble condition involving the Power SupplyModule, the CCM will display a specific trouble messageinforming the operator of the trouble. Conditions whichare monitored by the Power Supply Module are AC InputFailure, Battery Failure & Capacity, Ground Fault Detec-tion (+/-), Power Supply Failure, Microprocessor Failureand Communications Failure. The CCM is capable of dis-playing a trouble for each of the previously listed troubleconditions.

The Power Supply Module Assembly (P/N-74-200009-010) is comprised of a power supply monitor, PCB, andan AC/DC Switching Module. The power supply monitorPCB, is capable of supervising and controlling two AC/DC Switching Modules. The power supply monitor pro-vides the functionality described above while the AC/DCSwitching Module provides up to 4 Amps of 24 VDCpower.

In applications which require increased 24 VDC power,the Power Supply Module can be expanded to provide afull eight (8) amps of 24 VDC power. The module assem-bly provides connections for and supervision of an AC/DC switching unit, which supplies an additional 4 Ampsof 24 VDC power. The system supports a maximum of 8Power Supply Module assemblies for a maximum systempower of 64 Amps @24 VDC.

The unique battery test feature (when initiated), performsan actual battery capacity test by placing the batteriesunder load conditions. The power supply reports theresults to the CCM for display purposes. If during the testcondition, the battery voltage should dip below a factoryset threshold value, a test failure would be generated bythe system.

Ground fault detection circuitry insures system integrityby annunciating inadvertent short conditions of system24 VDC conductors to earth ground. Both positive andnegative sides of the 24 VDC are monitored. The corre-sponding trouble message would indicate polarity of theconductor affected by the short to minimize the timerequired to locate and correct the problem.

Two power limited 24 VDC auxiliary outputs are providedfor operation of auxiliary field devices. Auxiliary outputsare programmable for resettable or non-resettable opera-tion. These outputs are typically used to power four wiredevices such as UV/IR flame detectors, beam smokedetectors and the like.

A DPDT Form “C” dry contact is provided for remoteannunciation of power supply trouble conditions. Thesecontacts transfer on any power supply trouble condition.

INSTALLATIONThe Power Supply Modules and auxiliary power suppliesmount on studs provided in the main and expansionenclosures of the FenwalNET 2000 system.
