Last Week - Guest Speakers & Firm Share Teir Insight

HACU- Hispanic Association of Colleges & UniversitiesHACU explained that there are multiple opportunities or students in our position. Registering on their website (www.hacu.net) provides us with detailed inormation on scholarships as well as internships . HACU is currently working with Deloitte and other compa

nies to provide internships to students worldwide. Tere are minimal requirments, such ahaving a 3.0 GPA, being eligible to work in the United States, and a ew others. He alsomentioned that anyone can apply as long as you meet the requirments.

Ernst & Young Ernst & Young sponsored a Scavenger Hunt around the FIU Campus. Members werebroken up into teams, each with a E&Y representative. Tey were then given a short quizand the winners would start the hunt rst. From the College o Business Complex toFIU’s Stadium, members searched around campus in order complete the task. Te prize

was Ernst & Young branded olding chairs.

Maria M. YipDuring last Friday’s meeting (September 10th, 2010) Maria Yip joined us yet again, aterher visit during the orientation meeting.

Developing your Leadership Style- Ms. Yip stated that you should learn rom your peersas well hold true to your values. Leadership style is the action o “motivation and helpingpeople grow while still reaching your goals,” while your management style is the way youmanage people to get a certain goal.

Networking is not just the exchanging o business cards, it is a way o lie. Not only didnetworking help build YIP Associates, it helps bring in the clients.
