Viola, Savior of the Noli
• Received a telegram from Dr. Maximo• Viola agreed to finance the printing cost of
the Noli.• Rizal put the finishing touches on his
novel.• February 21, 1887 – Noli was finally
finished and ready for printing.• Berliner Buchdruckrei-Action-Gesselschaft,
charged 300 pesos.
Rizal Suspected as Frenchy Spy
• Police Berlin requested to see Rizal’s passport. He could not produce one.
• He must present his passport in four days, otherwise, he would be deported.
• Viola accompanied Rizal to Spanish Embassy.
• He was suspected by the Police Berlin as Frenchy Spy.
Printing of the Noli Finished
• Rizal with the help of Viola, supervised the printing of the Noli.
• March 21, 1887 – Noli Me Tangere came off the press.
