******************What are the psychological aspects of change?Areas for focus in helping people change. There are other questions that characterize these arenas. These are for example.

*Now, put them together: The three arenas across the top and the stages along the sides. You need to deal with people where they are, in leading change. So, assessment/diagnosing the issues becomes key!People, at any one time, will fall into categories:Resist it.Watch it.Make it happen.Need to find out where someone is in order to effect change.***Provide an incremental, sequential, highly integrated approach to the development of personal and interpersonal effectiveness.

Helps us move progressively from dependence to independence to interdependence.*The intersection of KNOWLEDGE = Knowing what to do and why.SKILL = how to do it.DESIRE = wanting to do it or motivation.Creating a habit requires work in all three dimensions.

    *

**MANAGEMENT = Doing things rightLEADERSHIP = Doing the right thing

PERSONAL MISSION STATEMENT: The focus is on three things:What we want to be (character)What we want to do (contributions and achievements)Values or principles on which being and doing are based.

*Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things that matter least. INDEPENDENT WILL is the ability to make decisions and choice and to act in accordance with them.It is the ability to make and keep commitmentsIt is the ability to walk our talk.

We have to decide what our highest priorities are and have the courage to say no to other things.

*WIN / WIN = agreements or solutions are mutually beneficial and mutually satisfying. The approach is cooperative, not competitive. This paradigm is based on the belief that there is plenty for everyone. WIN / LOSE = People use position, power, credentials, possessions or personality to get their way.LOSE / WIN = People are usually quick to please or appease.LOSE / LOSE = People are blind to everything except their desire for the other person to lose, even if it means losing themselves. WIN = People secure their own ends and leave it to others to secure theirs.See the problem from the other point of view.Identify the key issues & concerns involved.Determine what results would constitute a fully acceptable solution.Identify possible new options to achieve their results.
