Atomic Structure Application

• The ATOMIC NUMBER of an element is the number of PROTONS in the center, nucleus of an atom.

• It is the PROTONS that IDENTIFY which element is on the periodic table.

• NO TWO elements have the same ATOMIC NUMBER. (proton count)

Number of protons + neutrons

Can also be # of electrons if neutral

Use your Periodic table to complete the application exercises. You may work as a

group to answer the questions.
