THE FLOOR-MOUNTED POWER & FREE SYSTEM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED IN ORDER TO FLEXIBLY TRANSPORT LARGE WORKPIECE IN THE COATING TECHNOLOGY PLANT. The Power & Free floor conveyor is based, like conventional Power & Free hanger conveyors, on a 2-rail system. The transport chain runs in the upper rail. This chain moves the trolleys with the workpiece holders in the lower rail by means of dog latches. The rapid transfer from chain to chain increases the flexibility of paint shops in comparison to plants with conventional circular conveyors. In addition, various conveying speeds are possible depending on process requirements. By means of the pile-up function, various carrier spacings can be implemented. The lateral third rail enables a high degree of positioning accuracy in the upper component carrier zone. This precision opens up new applications in automated painting tech- nology. Oil-free running – even in the high temperature area The Power & Free floor system was designed for wet and powder coating lines. The chains are designed so that they, in combi- nation with special materials and bearing lubricants, guarantee oil-free, low maintenance operation even in high temperature applications. System with low noise generation Another plus point for the conveyor system is its silent running – especially in comparison to skid conveyors. This noise reduction has been made possible by the use of rigid chain pusher dogs. All functional components required for the Power & Free movements are integrated in the trolley. High process reliability and minimum maintenance effort Tried & tested, standard components are used in the inverted Power & Free system. At the same time, many identical compo- nents have been used. This ensures a high degree of process reliability and minimizes the time and effort required for maintenance and stocking of spare parts. Installation and control system The Power & Free conveyor system is controlled by the ESM (Energy Saver Module) field bus control system that has been successfully used in the industry for many years now. Each plant stopper and controlled outward transfer switch is equipped with an ESM. The individual modules are connected to each other via a system bus wiring with integrated power supply, which also supports simple connection with the plant control system. In addition, the ESM can be easily integrated in higher-level control systems such as the client’s own Manu- facturing Execution System E-MES.
