Poverty is hunger. Poverty is lack of

shelter. Poverty is being

sick and not being able to see a doctor.

Poverty is not having a job, is fear for the future , living one day at a time.

inspires a multitude of bacteria to host their own

Over 40% of these same villages don’t have proper roads connecting them.

A universal and simple

measure of poverty consists in looking at

different populations’ health and life expectancy. It’s no surprise that anywhere on earth, poorer communities

fare worse than richer ones.

INDIA suffers from a lot of poverty which means that many people there do not have enough

money . Monthly per capita consumption expenditure is below Rs. 356.35 for rural areas and Rs. 538.60 for

urban areas. out of every 4 Indians earns less

than $0.40 per day. 75% of the poor are in rural areas. Most of

them are daily wagers and landless labourers.

ABOUT POVERTYNational Commission for

Enterprises in the Unorganised Sector (NCEUS) published a report in 2007. This report state, 77% of Indians (that means 836

million people), lived on less than 20 rupees per day (0.50 nominal, 2.0 in PPP). Most of them have no job or social security. They live in abject
