French is the official language of many organizations The Red Cross The Olympics UNESCO NATO the Council of Europe just to name a few Slide 6 It is a useful language because, throughout the world, 113 million people speak it as a primary language and 500 million people worldwide have a significant knowledge of the language. La langue de Francais est utile parce que, autour du monde, 113 million personnes parlent la langue comme langue primaire et 500 million personnes ont une connaissance considrable de la langue. Slide 7 Knowing a foreign language opens the door for many travel opportunities. Slide 8 Travel There are 55 countries that speak French Learning French can make it so you can visit these countries and speak their language. You can travel to those countries as a foreign exchange student and meet people from around the world. Slide 9 Some of the places that speak French that you could visit are: France Haiti Quebec Martinique Belgium La Cote dIvoire Senegal Montreal Slide 10 With French classes, you could go on field trips that allow you to experience the language & culture. Slide 11 Notre-Dame The Louvre The Arc de Triomphe Eiffel Tower Slide 12 If you look up north, Canada is mostly a French speaking country. If you were to head up north or go anywhere near there, you might be able to use French and get around without any trouble. Slide 13 In French class, there will be many memorable times with the peers around you. In this class you are SUPPOSED to TALK A LOT with people near you, helping each other. Slide 15 We think our teachers are AMAZING! At Bacon, the teachers keep it fun with cultural projects like making Mardi Gras floats or designing comic books. Slide 16 A lot of people take French classes because they want to see what its like to try something new. French classes show you a lot of cool stuff that you wouldnt be able to see in other classes. Slide 17 Doing a language course helps to enter the college that you want. Some colleges want YOU to have at least three years of a language More than that is sure to be impressive to colleges! Slide 18 Slide 19 Slide 20 You will be able to learn the life of French speakers what they eat, where they live, how they spend their free time, what do they do for fun A lot of it is different compared to what we do in our daily lives. Yes youll have a chance to read things that French kids your age know and love Slide 30 Youll get to listen to music from different French- speaking places and learn to figure out what they are saying Slide 31 French is the third most common language on the Internet. Connect with pen pals, visit foreign websites. Being able to connect from French speakers from around the world helps create new friends. Sometimes if you become close to your pen pal they will come and visit you or you can visit them! Friends Slide 32 Teachers play a key role in the experience in learning a foreign language.
