Though not always needed, a
cooling step in potash processing
is often utilized after a drying
stage.

Adding a cooler to a potash processing
operation can offer many benefits…

Benefits of
Cooling Potash

Increased Efficiency:Adding a potash cooler means potash
can immediately be bagged,
handled, or stored after processing.

Reduced Storage Issues: Cooling potash prior to bagging
prevents caking and sticking issues
during storage.

Enhanced Granules: Cooling potash creates a more robust
and resilient granule.

Choosing A Potash Cooler:
Rotary Cooler or
Fluid Bed Cooler?
![Page 9: Potash Cooling](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032714/55aa2bd31a28abce188b46e8/html5/thumbnails/9.jpg)
Cooling potash can be carried out in
either a rotary cooler, or fluid bed
cooler, but rotary coolers are
considered a more robust choice.
![Page 10: Potash Cooling](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032714/55aa2bd31a28abce188b46e8/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
Rotary coolersare prized for their high throughput, heavy-
duty build, and ability to accept variability
in feedstock conditions.
![Page 11: Potash Cooling](https://reader031.vdocuments.us/reader031/viewer/2022032714/55aa2bd31a28abce188b46e8/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Fluid bed coolers are valued for their smaller footprint, and
modular capacity ideal for operational
growth. However, they cannot accept
variance in feedstock.

Conclusion:
Potash cooling offers many benefits to the
end product, as well as to the processing
operation. Both rotary coolers and fluid bed
coolers are a suitable choice for a potash
cooler.
