    What is good posture?

Posture is the position in which you hold

your body upright against gravity while

standing, sitting or lying down. Good posture

involves training your body to stand, walk,

sit and lie in positions where the least strain

is placed on supporting muscles andligaments during movement or weight-

    bearing activities.

    Thirty-three vertebrae are named

    according to their location:

seven cervical (neck) vertebrae, twelve thoracic ( chest) vertebrae,

five lumbar (lower back) vertebrae, five sacral vertebrae fused to form

the sacrum, three to five coccygeal vertebrae

    fused into one coccyx.

When viewed from the side, the

vertebral column has four normalcurvatures named for their location.

The cervical and lumbar curvatures are

    convex anteriorly

The thoracic and sacral curvatures are

    concave anteriorly.

In the fetus, the vertebral column hasbut one curve-concave anteriorly.

    Inappropriate Posture

    Today, more than ever,

our days are spent in a

sitting position. In additionto the long hours at work

    We continue to sit while

    driving, dining, at concerts

or the theater or at homewatching television or

    working at the computer,

    unknowingly stressing our

    neck, shoulders and back.

    What does the Bible say aboutmakeup?(Ezekiel 23: 40, 45, Jeremiah4:30, 2 Kings 9:22, 30)

In the texts from Ezekielabove, makeup is judged asa connection to the manner

of adultery. In other words, makeup is used to entice allwho are in the view of thosewho wear it, whether or not

it is your husband or wife. Many may not wear it forthis purpose, but this is thenature of this type of

In the Jeremiah textabove, it is noted thatmakeup is used to

make thyself fair. This denotes that it isabout self, which isidolatry. God is moreconcerned with ourcharacters than thistype of adornment. See1 Peter 3:3, 4. In the 2Kings texts above is it

noted that the wickedqueen Jezebel adornedherself with makeup.Any sincere Christian

Just when you thought it was safe to wear high heels, newresearch has revealed the extent of the damage they caninflict on unsuspecting wearers.

RELATED: High Heels Aren't The Cause Of Bunions

A series of 3D scans released this week show thatthe foot deformity caused by wearing high heelsis actually much more complicated than firstthought.

Its the first time doctors have been able toproperly investigate exactly how the foot behaveswhen contorted into a pair of high heels and

    unfortunately, the news isnt good.

"With high heels, the toes are squashed inside theshoe, said Andy Goldberg, a foot and anklespecialist. The more stiletto-shaped they are, the

High HeelsIn essence, high heels disrupt gait and posture for the entirebody. In a study of varying heel heights, it was found thatknee, hip and back problems may in part be related to arestriction of the joints. Recent research from the University

of Hong Kong suggests that the medium and long term effectsof high heels may be more far reaching than anyone hassuspected so far, and is very likely to contribute to commonmusculo-skeletal problems. A team of researchers repeated aset of images for a young woman who had started wearing

high heels for the first time in her life: in just two weeks ofdaily wearing of the new shoes the cancellous structures hadaltered in line with the changed forces on the hip! They wereamazed at how quickly the second-hardest substance of thebody can change (the enamel of the teeth is the hardest).

The really high shoes force you to virtually walk on tip-toes,putting a great deal of force through the joints of the toes inpositions for which they are not ideally suited.

Health in Dress is of Vital

    Importance!

    Tight clothing has health

    implications. It cansignificantly restrict

    diaphragmatic breathing.

    According to further research

    chronic venous insufficiency

has been found to be directly

    linked to tight clothing, in

    combination with overweight

    and a low-fiber diet with

    resultant straining.

Another evil which custom fosters is theunequal distribution of the clothing, sothat while some parts of the body have

more than is required, others areinsufficiently clad. The feet and limbs, being remote from the vital organs, should be especially guarded from coldby abundant clothing. It is impossible to

have health when the extremities arehabitually cold; for if there is too littleblood in them, there will be too much inother portions of the body. Perfect

health requires a perfect circulation; butthis can not be had while three or fourtimes as much clothing is worn upon thebody, where the vital organs aresituated, as upon the feet and limbs.

    Cancer, Diseases andCirculation

Because it is the fashion, many females place over their breastspaddings, to give the form the appearance of well-developedbreasts. These appendages attract the blood to the chest, andproduce a dry, irritating heat. The veins, because of unnaturalheat, become contracted, and the natural circulation is obstructed. These appendages, in connection with other bad habits of dressing

and eating, result in obstructing the process of nature, making ahealthy development of the breasts impossible. And if thesebecome mothers, there cannot be a natural secretion of the fluids,to have a sufficient supply of nourishment for their offspring.

A Recent Article by NguyenPhawk Yu, M.D.

In the "Bra and Breast Cancer Study" in the UnitedStates, it was discovered that women with breastcancer had a history of sporting tighter and longerbra-wearing than did the women who had not (yet)developed the disease. In fact, virtually all of thecancer group wore bras over 12 hours daily with 18%even sleeping with their bras which means they worebras 24 hours daily. In contrast, the comparisongroups had 25% of the women either bra-free orwearing bras less than 12 hours daily. Only 3% of this

group slept with their bras on. This study revealed asignificant link between bras and breast cancer that isthree times greater than the link between cigarettesmoking and lung cancer!

Women who wore their bras 24 hours per dayhad a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breastcancer (in their study, n=2056 for the cancergroup and n=2674 for the standard group).

Women who wore bras more than 12 hour per

day but not to bed had a 1 out of 7 risk. Women who wore their bras less than 12 hoursper day had a 1 out of 152 risk.

Women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer. Theoverall difference between 24 hour wearing and

not at all was a 125-fold difference.

    Tight Underwear/Pants

Another common cause of low sperm count is tightunderwear. If you are wearing briefs or tightywhiteys Switch to boxers. The testicles have to beat an exact body temperature to produce healthysperm. So your body has a muscle that lowers andraises the testicles to create this exact temperaturefor sperm production. But if you have tightunderwear on, the testicles cannot lower becausethe underwear will continue to hold them up. This isone of the most common and overlooked causes ofinfertility. This also applies to tight pants. If you haveboxers but wear tight pants, same problem.
