This is the poster advertising All Time Low’s album “Nothing Personal”. The picture of the band would be instantly recognisable to fans and would therefore draw them in quicker. The art work looks like a school notebook, which is relevant for their target audience. It depicts small doodles and some things found in a student’s bag.

The colour scheme is quite simple which highlights that the band cares more about the music than the design. The brightest colour on the page is the pink which connotes calming and the hot pink inspires a passionate love which the fans will have for the band.

This poster is very simple in terms of the colour scheme. This is shown as the colour orange is bright in relation to the black which makes it the most prominent image on the poster. As well as this, it highlights to the viewer the album art which they would have to look out for and would be recognisable to fans as he’s renowned for having ginger hair. Moreover, the artist’s picture and his emboldened name would draw attention from fans of his who would recognise it instantly.

In addition to this, the white text also contrasts against the black background. The font is the same throughout the text. However, the “+” is in a font similar to the one on the album. This creates synergy. Furthermore, the paw symbol next to his name is special to him as his fans would recognise it as the same symbol is on his trademark guitar.

Again, the simplicity of the image is very effective. It keeps a minimal colour scheme of gold and black. The gold implies that she is gaining money vastly as her career goes on. However the gold also highlights the wealth in the industry. In addition to this, the artist is shown evidently on the cover. This will draw the attention of passing fans and increase the popularity of the album. Furthermore, the use of the titles of her previous singles will increase the overall profits as they will be recognisable to fans of her old music.

The use of the website highlights that you can purchase the album and other of Jessie J’s merchandise there. This will increase the sales as people/fans will visit the website looking to buy her album but ultimately look through her other items for sale.

Overall, I have found out that simplicity is very effective and I will try to use this in my poster’s design. In addition to this, I found that in using the artist in the design, it will increase the sales of the album as they will be recognisable to fans. The colours and the design are vital to exciting the target niche market and I will therefore take careful consideration of this.
