Poster Analysis

Follow the usual conventions of a drawing/symbol in alternative rock cover or poster design. The drawing replicates the atmosphere of a live concert, which allows their target audience to have a thrilling taster. The faces of the band members are blurred or are facing away from looking ahead. This could suggest their passion for their music, as they want the audience to feel the lyrics emotionally.

Informative Information- dates of when their concert is going to occur and who will be also starring. This is informative is useful as it allows the ‘word of mouth’ and social media to relay this data onto their wider audience that wish to come to their concert.

The logo is printed at the corner of the poster. It is in large print so any individual can identify their band or be introduced to the band. The logo is on a light background, which could signify how their music brings peaceful thoughts or heartfelt emotions.

The colours of red, black and cream blend well; to portray the balanced vibe within their band. The music they produce has an underlying meaning and is great to listen too.

Both posters have a large print of the band name. Their posters are simplistic as they portray once image/drawing and their brand. Both use two contrasting colours to give off a lasting effect- name is easily remembered. Nirvana use simplistic marketing techniques to attract their audience.

There is a contrast between the dark grey and yellow, which allows the text and image to stand out. The use of a smiling face reflects the idea of still having an immature side that enjoys having fun.

Whereas, in the poster the black screen and white text/image contrasting, illustrates a simplistic version of what the audience can expect.
