NAVI MUMBAI: Now itis time to make surethat the city is neat andclean to give the muchneeded ambiance re-quired for setting up asmart city. The citywill have to take up theadditional responding ofproviding quality edu-cation, dependable pow-er supply, health con-sciousness, e-gover-nance, affordable hous-ing for poor, water sup-ply and several othersectors would be theCentre of focus underthe project. Smart citytag will bring cheers tothe citizens of the sat-ellite city and we dreamof Navi Mumbai be-coming a place to be-hold in the country.

Bad roadsand pathetic infra in-vite more accidents andthe roads are slowly be-coming a death trap.Roads are becoming in-creasingly bad and thetwo wheeler riders arerisking their lives inthis pathetic conditions.

Sanpada subway is themost dangerous of allthe subways in NaviMumbai. Motorist holdtheir breath whileriding through thiscorridor. There are onlypotholes and craters towelcome motorist dur-ing day time. While atnight motorist areforced to drive in dark-ness without mandato-ry lights in subway.

NAVI MUMBAI: It is really unfortu-nate to see MAFCO Onion/Potatovegetable market is in a bad stateafter being shifted from the originalbuilding long back. The old buildingwas to be renovated and given backto the individual vegetable vendorsin a most modern way. Instead, wesee the vegetable vendors are strug-gling to sell vegetables in a make-shift shelter. Asbestos sheet is gen-erating heat and during rains, rainwater enters the shops near the en-trance. Water logging in the shop-ping complex creates a hindrance tothe regular shoppers during rainyseason. So, the ambiance of the mar-ket is going from bad to worse.

Need to improve quality of life in IndiaIndia is set to become the most populous nation; improving the

quality of life is crucial. National leaders must redouble their ef-forts to raise education, health and living standards for peopleeverywhere. They must singularly focus on improving educationand health access for women.

There is a rise in life expectancy. There is a growing populationof older adults. It opens up prospects for employment in manynew services catering to them. Urban facilities have to be reimag-ined, with an emphasis on access to good, affordable housing andmobility.

There is need to make progress in poverty reduction, greaterequality, better nutrition, universal education and health care, needs state support and strong civil society institutions. Makingagriculture remunerative and keeping food prices stable are cru-cial to ensure nutrition for all.

Many young career oriented women have been refusing to havemore than one child; often have none at all. Thus entrants into thecountry’s labour force are declining in nos. Within only 10-12 yearswe have very few and declining trained personnel to take over thebasic service and production systems. Serious manpower planningis necessary in India.

There is the dire need for controlling population. We shouldhave a national population policy. We cannot afford to multiply likerats having regard to the limitations of land availability, productionof food grains and other produce for feeding the population. In-stead it is advocating the need for producing more for meeting thedemands of the rising population. Whenever we talk of populationpolicy, it becomes a religious issue with certain sections of minor-ities opposing it.

Fundamental indicators of quality of life include have sufficientnutrition, adequate accommodation and environment, social andpsychological fulfilment, and health. However, modern develop-ment is responsible for creating and/or facilitating many of theworld’s evils. They include a sense of spiritual and cultural loss, environmental degradation, rapid population growth, Third Worlddebt, social unrest, unemployment, vastly increased capabilitiesof humanity’s destructive potential and a sense of declining soci-etal standards.

It seems the two child norm followed from the early days hastaken a back seat these days. Brushing aside such stipulationsthere are certain group of people who feels that their number inthe nation is comparatively less and should gear up for more kids.So regardless of the community one belongs to, an equally appli-cable population policy needs to be implemented. Education re-mains the prelude to achieve such an objective.

We need to take immediate steps to curb the growing popula-tion as it will hinder the path of developing nation. India must seeksupport from other countries who needs manpower. India couldbecome the supplier of skilled manpower that will benEfit bothcountries.

China’s population has been declining gradually since the ap-plication of one child policy and a noticeable reduction in its popu-lation is now on the surface. India will become the most populatedcountry in the world because of its enormous number of existingpopulation which is on the 2nd rank worldwide and the effective aswell as rapid actions taken by other countries to reduce their pop-ulation will also push India towards the 1st rank.

Huge Indian population & ranking as the most populated coun-try in the world by 2025 is not a great achievement under anycircumstances. In fact there is an urgent need to control popula-tion in the country which is already running out of valuable re-sources like water besides climate change destruction of flora &fauna & forests causing damage to the environment & global warm-ing with high toxic air content making living a night mare. India inthe future will pay a heavy price if it neglects controlling the pop-ulation as there can be less jobs & food scarcity

Slowing Indian economyleading to despair

We all enjoy the at-mosphere of Café Cof-fee Day in your cityand I am one of them.So with disbelief and asense of creeping dreadI received the news ofCafé Coffee Dayfounder V.G. Sid-dhartha’s suicide. Anindustry which hastaught us to enjoy cof-fee in its many forms. It was not only thedeath of an entrepre-neur but also the slow-ing down of IndianEconomy. The crisis-ridden Indian economywas exposed by this in-cident. Café Coffee Dayfounder V.G. Sid-dhartha’s suicideshould ring alarm bellsin the corridors of theall-powerful financeministry and the bu-reaucracy and weshould no longer pre-tend that everything ishunky-dory for Indian

Siddhartha dis-appeared on Mondayand Wednesday morn-ing, his body was foundwashed ashore in Kar-nataka’s Netravati riv-er, 36 hours after hewent missing and twodays prior to his disap-pearance, he had leftbehind a note to hisemployees that re-vealed he was in deepdebt and it was impair-ing his business asworking capital re-quirements could notbe met. He has writtenin his note that he hadfailed to create theright profitable busi-ness model despite bestefforts. So he would liketo say sorry for lettingdown all the peoplethat put their trust inhim.

He said, he foughtfor a long time but to-day, he gave-up as hecould not take any

more pressure. Localfisherman, along withtheir boats, also joinedin the search opera-tions with the authori-ties. The image of Sid-dhartha’s lifeless bodybeing fished out of theriver will haunt us forquite some time. Theinvestigations will re-veal the details of thebusiness deals and thedebt burden, and pos-sibly other reasonsthat forced the ownerof a successful enter-prise to take the fatalstep which shook themarket. The stake-holders will get theirdues and the marketmay stabilise after awhile but it is time forthe finance ministerand her government towake up and smell thecoffee as any incidentsof this nature is al-ways forgotten afterinitial hooha. It is im-portant that we learnthe right lessons fromthis unfortunate inci-dent.

The Indian econo-my is totally out of bal-ance as the recent cred-it squeeze and liquidi-

ty crunch have forcedeven some of the estab-lished players to cutcosts and lay off people. And this job loss is realand hurting. Sectorslike automobile, phar-maceuticals and realestate, which were oncecalled the sunrise sec-tors and fuelled real-time economic growth, are down in the dumpstoday and more thanone lakh jobs are injeopardy. According toa report by the Automo-tive Component Manu-facturers Association ofIndia (ACMA), 70 percent of the industryworkers have contrac-tual jobs and due to theslowdown, most ofthem lost jobs. Severalbanks have started go-ing slow on disburse-ment of loans and ad-vances to auto-dealersas the recovery is diffi-cult. This will only leadto more job losses, andfurther recession inthe auto sector whichis owned by small scalepopulation. Due to thefact that initial settingup of business is verycostly and the list of

compliance is gruellingand, at times, untena-ble, it is difficult to bean entrepreneur in In-dia. Add to this, corrup-tion, red-tapism, bu-reaucratic lethargy, and non-cooperationfrom the nodal agenciesthat are the immediatepoint of reference forany start-up or MSMEentrepreneur are, making it difficult tosurvive.

Moreover, the atti-tude of the government, which looks at profit-making as the anti-the-sis of socialism, has notchanged in the last 25years. It is a notion thatbusinesses in India, es-pecially by first-time en-trepreneurs seeking tobreak the glass ceiling, have to work hard inhostile environment.Authority quote theWorld Bank report, which says we are nowplaced at 77th spot, upfrom 100 in 2017. Butsuch numbers don’tmatch the ground real-ity. Small and mediumenterprises face manychallenges. To get accessto capital, raw materi-

al, power supply andother basic necessitieswhile starting a busi-ness venture. FinanceMinister Nirmala Sith-araman in her budgetspeech assured the busi-ness community thatthe government is notlooking down upon “le-gitimate profit earning”.But alas! What they saythey don’t follow. In re-ality a tighter taxationregime, stricter auditnorms, fine-tooth comb-ing of ITRs and balance-sheets have all butkilled the incentive tomake profit and declareit and we can’t blamepeople.

The rising incidentsof “tax terrorism” astermed by some corpo-rate honchos, inade-quate liquidity in thesystem due to continu-ing crisis in non-bank-ing finance companies, increasing corporatedebt levels and overalldifficulty of doing busi-ness in India have be-come buzzwords for theday and this reputationor non-reputation isspreading in othercountries and people are

not coming forward toinvest money here. These pressures werespoken in hushed whis-pers not publicly butSiddhartha’s deathseems to have been theproverbial last strawbreaking the camel’sback. He was known asIndia’s coffee king, hav-ing established thecountry’s largest coffeeretail chain with thou-sands of outlets acrossIndia and abroad andhe has to commit sui-cide. It is being said bymany business personsthat India has movedfrom License Raj to In-spector Raj. There is aneffort to clean India butin reality the extremecases are cleaning mid-dle class and businesssector. Now is the timeto take corrective mea-sures and it is the re-sponsibility of the gov-ernment to regulatecredit, insulate lendersand creditors by pro-tecting their interestsand caution stakehold-ers against fake opera-tors and serial offendersmasquerading as en-trepreneurs.

A Historic DayBravo, Modiji &Amit

Shahji for scripting anew history in Jammu& Kashmir. August 5,2019 will go down as thememorable day in India. Opportunists like Mehaboobha, Omar Abdullah and Farooq Ab-dullah cannot go on fooling the Indians. IfMuslims want equal rights in the rest of Indiathey must be prepared for the same for othersin J&K. The present government should notbother about the barking dogs.

Art 370 should have been abrogated in theNehru era itself. It is anachronistic, antedelu-vian and unjust. I am sure that terrorism willend in the Union Territory of J & K.

Both Modiji and Shaji deserve a Bharat Rat-na.

BEST busesaren’t the ‘best’ anymoreThe BEST bus services are no longer the

best as the name suggests. Bad managementand rude staff hurt passengers very much. Thecondition of the buses are also not good. Thebrakes fail anytime and anywhere during thejourney. The staff also does not give a properanswer to our queries whenever we ask themanything. Therefore, people do not prefer trav-elling by the BEST bus; they prefer to take shareautos or share taxis. I don’t think the BESTwill revive the losses that have had all theseyears by reducing the bus fares; they should’vethought of it long back, not now. It’s too late.

Removal of Article 370BJP Govt. at Centre has taken historic de-

cision by removing Article 370 and 35-A. Sincommitted by Congress 70 years ago has thusbeen washed off by Modi Government. HinduJanajagruti Samiti (HJS) therefore, congratu-lates Union Government on behalf of all pro-Hindu organizations. Removal of Article 370 hasrelieved Bharat Mata of lot of weight off herhead and it is now our demand that the Govt.should crown Bharat Mata by rehabilitatingKashmiri Hindus. This is the beginning of es-tablishing Hindu Rashtra.

Patriotic citizens and various pro-Hin-du organizations had been demanding removalof Article 370 at different levels. Today, justiceis done to their demands. HJS and Sanatan San-stha have been demanding removal of Article370 through various rallies and all-India Hin-du Rashtra Conventions held till now.

Now, the Govt. should revive all the tem-ples destroyed in Kashmir and rehabilitate dis-placed our Kashmiri Hindu brethren; abolishall anti-national laws passed by Jammu &Kashmir State Legislative Assembly and im-mediately drive out Rohingya Muslims whohave been given shelter there, are the demandsmade by HJS and we are sure that the UnionGovt. would certainly take action on Hindus’demands.
