COLOR• The quality of light
reflected from an object, and not absorbed.
• Isaac Newton discovered that white light (from the sun), when refracted through a prism, would break up into it’s separate colors (ROY G BIV).
COLOR WHEELColors are divided into
groups or “schemes”.• Primary• Secondary• Tertiary/Intermediate• Complementary• Analogous• Warm /Cool
Tertiary Colors A tertiary color
is a color made by mixing one primary color with one secondary color.
Complementary colors are colors that are opposite of each other on the color wheel, such as blue and orange, red and green, violet and yellow.

SPACE
FOREGROUND- Objects larger and warmer in color.
MIDDLEGROUND- Objects get smaller
BACKGROUND- Colors get cooler & objects get blurrier
FORM
• Three-dimensional shapes or objects. • Form can be implied or actual. • Value is used to create form in painting and
drawing.
SCULPTURE
An ARMATURE is:• The skeleton that
supports the material by which the sculpture is made (i.e. clay, paper mache, etc.)

BALANCEBalance is a feeling of equality
or stability in a piece of artwork. There are three types:

RHYTHM
• Rhythm is created when similar elements repeat, creating a sense of movement. Repeating elements do NOT have to be exactly alike.
PROPORTION• … is the comparative relationship of one
part to another, such as the size, amounts, or number of elements in an artwork.
