Post Herpes Zoster Pain Treatment
One of the most common complications of shingles is persistence of pain in the affected area of the body after the rashhas healed. This is often called post-herpetic neuralgia . It may be very severe and prolonged, particularly in olderpatients.
Post-herpetic neuralgia is most likely to occur when the patient with shingles is older (more than 50 years old), there issevere or moderately severe pain when the rash appears and/or there is pain before the rash appears.
