Possible Role of Clairvoyance in the Evolution:Quantum Mind as a Factor and a

Subject of the Evolution

In the present article two problems are considered: the possibility to change thefuture using the clairvoyance and the role of the clairvoyance (including its useto change the future) as a factor of the living species evolution. In addition, because the clairvoyance is a property of the quantum mind, the more generalproblem of the quantum mind as a factor and a subject of the evolution isdiscussed. The clairvoyance provided the picture of the future, this picture wasthe result of all events, natural as well as produced by the ALL human activity, including, of course, the attempt to change it using the information obtained bythe clairvoyance. This means, such an attempt to change the future leads us tothe vicious circle! But maybe it would be possible to by-pass this problem andnevertheless to use the information provided by the clairvoyance to change thefuture? The second problem considered in the presentpaper is whether thinking living beings (e.g., human beings) can haveclairvoyance ability and (if yes) can use the clairvoyance, including its ability tochange the future, for their thinking and behaviour organization, and for thedevelopment of the creativity. It is indicated that the clairvoyance can helpliving beings to win the struggle for life, which means that by this way it couldbecome a factor of the evolution, in particular, of the mind quantum propertiesevolution. A lot of experimental results (Puthoff andTarg, 1976; Targ and Katra, 1998) prove thatthe clairvoyance and precognitionphenomena really exist and provide theirdependence on experimental conditions. ESP

phenomena, in general, and among them theclairvoyance, are observed aspects of thequantum mind (Temkin 1982; 1999), or itsdisplayed properties. A theoretical approachto the quantum mind is represented in ourworks (Temkin 1982; 1999). Let us considernow the clairvoyance processes.

Clairvoyant being at the timemoment 0=t t sees the future at the timemoment 0= >ft t t . But what is to be done, ifthis future is found to be undesirable? Can itbe changed, or principally not? Whether the

obtained (by the clairvoyance) knowledge ofthe future may be used to influence thefuture and to change it? This problem will beconsidered below.

Notice that our consideration isvalide for the precognition as well as for theclairvoyance and so, for short, in the presentarticle we call it also clairvoyance (Rhine,1975; Rogo, 1975).

Ways to change the futureWhether the information on the future at thetime moment ft provided by theclairvoyance can be used to change thisfuture at ft , in other words, whether thisinformation can be active or not?

Sometimes the answer could bepositive. Suppose, for example, that there isa certain system which is a set of elements(no matter what is their nature). Let aclairvoyant sees its future, but only as thewhole (!), not the future of any of its subsets. Then he may do something to change thefuture of a certain subset of elementsforming the considered system, but underthe condition that the future of the system asthe whole would remain untouched in theframework of the error(s) of themeasurement. For example, if a clairvoyantgot the information on the imminent realestate crisis (this is the global information),he can transfer HIS investments from thereal estate to another subject to save them. Ifhis investments to the real estate are not toobig and cannot influence the whole picture, his action will not change the futurepredicted by the clairvoyance, so there is novicious logical circle. This means, thegeneral information on the future real estatecrisis provided by the clairvoyance may beactive, but within a scale incomparablysmaller than that of the whole system.

But whether the precognition of thewhole system future made by a clairvoyant, could be used to change this future, in otherwords, this information could be activewithin the scale of the whole system? Suchan attempt itself seems to be logicallycontradictory. Indeed, we already know thefuture of the system determined by theclairvoyance simply as it is, no matter howthe system came from its state at 0=t t to theone at = ft t . If we try to change it, this

means that we expect to obtain anotherpicture of the future than we already got. But, if so, WHY not this (new) future at

= ft t was seen by the clairvoyant? Thus, wecame to the contradiction.

But try to get rid of this contradictionby changing the conditions of theclairvoyance experiment execution. For thispurpose let us divide the time interval

0 , ft t into subintervals

0 1 1, < , n n n f n nn n t t t t t t t

where is the set of all natural numbers. Then the clairvoyant can subsequently step-by-step determine the future at timemoments 1 2, , , n n nt t t etc.. But when he did itat a certain nt , he is permitted to make somechanges in the next subinterval at 1, n nt t t , where 10 < < n nt t , that

change the reality for the whole system at1= nt t , using the information provided by

the clairvoyance at time = nt t . Note, possiblyit is to make some such experiments withdifferent changes of the reality at = nt t toobtain different realities at 1= nt t . After the

reality within 1 thn time interval will be

independently seen by the clairvoyance itcannot be changed, but on its grounds onecan decide about what change of the realitywithin 2 th

n time interval is to be done and

perform it, as it was described for 1 thn

interval. This process can be continued up to=n fmax

t t . Of course, the relevant choice of set

of different combinations of the describedclairvoyant step-by-step observations, accompanying by the change future at theend of the next time interval, allows one (atthe end of this procedure) to change thefuture at the time moment

=n fmaxt t

avoiding the abovementioned contradiction.Note that it must obtain a number ofsequences of such intervals with changes, asit was described above, and to find amongthem such a sequence that the reality at

=n fmaxt t

would be closest to the desirable one.

Biological applicationsWhen a mouse searches for the food in alabyrinth, his brain tries to detect where thefood is placed using random walksthroughout the labyrinth. If to suppose thatthe mouse is able to think, he can promotethese searches using the thinking based onhis previous experiments. Note that livingbeings other than humans can possess theintellect, even the quantum mind andconsciousness (Griffin, 2001; Watson, 1907;Allen, 2010; Bekoff, 2002), as it was foundby studies of different animals, e. g., apes, parrots, octopuses etc.. So the existence of athinking mouse is not impossible. Theproblem of animals' ability to think can beconsidered on the grounds of theories ofRoger Penrose, Stuart Hameroff and HenryStapp (Penrose 1989; 1994; Hameroff 1998aand b; 2007; Tegmark, 2000; Hagan et al.,2002; Stapp 2004), as well as of the theory(Temkin, 1999). Creative ability of thehuman thinking is a manifestation of hisquantum mind (Temkin, 1999). Then, if todo one more step ahead and to suppose thatthe mouse possesses the quantum mind(Temkin, 1999), he may be clairvoyant. Thenhe can find the food location by theclairvoyance in time essentially less than byuse of only “traditional” thinking based onthe previous experience at walking throughthe labyrinth. Then, it could be expected, that if this difference of search times beconfirmed experimentally, this fact willconfirm that the considered breed of animalshas ability to clairvoyance and thereforepossesses of the quantum mind. It could beimportant also for the understanding of theliving world evolution. Indeed, the questionarises: whether the quantum mind of humanbeings appeared suddenly only at homosapiens or as a result of the evolution? If thelatter is correct, this means the quantummind had to exist also at animals other thanhuman beings. On the other hand, quantummind with its manifestations such as, forexample, clairvoyance could influence theevolution, in particular, make its certaindirections preferable etc..

The behavior, in general, not only thesolution of labyrinth problems, of animalspossessing the clairvoyance ability should bedifferent from the one of those who do notpossess it. For example, the clairvoyancehelps to solve fast problems arising in the

struggle for life, which is an importantadvantage. Animals possessing theclairvoyance ability may also develop duringthe evolution the ability to change the future,as it was described above, to create morefavorable conditions of life for themselves.Of course, each animal does it for himself, but, as result, a collective of them creates thefuture conditions of life (including the rulesof behavior inside the collective) better forthis collective, in particular, for its survival.By this way the clairvoyance couldaccellerate the evolution in certaindirections. On the other hand, those kinds ofanimals have more chance to win in thestruggle for life who develop moreprogressive the clairvoyance ability and useit by the way described above. This means, the struggle for life stimulates thedevelopment of quantum properties of theanimal's mind, and, therefore, theircreativity, which means, possibly, theevolution toward the human mind.

Thus, the development of theclairvoyance ability is an important factor ofthe evolution because the clairvoyance maybe a helpful mean of the struggle for life ofan animal as well as of species. On the otherhand, this struggle for life, in its turn, stimulates the development of theclairvoyance ability that is an aspect of thequantum mind, accellerating by this theevolution of the intellect, especially itscreative ability which is a property namely ofthe quantum mind (Temkin, 1999). Perhaps, the experimental discovery and study of theclairvoyance ability development of differentspecies would be the mean to clarify thedependence of the animals' world evolutionon the evolution of quantum properties oftheir mind responsible for its creativity, consciousness etc.. Possibly, beginning froma certain stage of the evolution just thisfactor is the dominating one leading to theflexibility of the animals' behavior, its betteradaptation to changing (in smallest andlargest space and time scales) conditions oflife, creating advantages in the struggle forlife.

Returning to human beings, it wouldbe interesting to consider whether scientistscreating principally new theories and newdirections of scientific thinking possess akind of the developed clairvoyance. By

means of the clairvoyance they see the futureof science, and this vision (frankly speaking, the information obtained from theclairvoyance) maybe in combination with thechange of the future helps them to build newscientific theories and approach, to createnew ways of scientific thinking. The similarmay occur not only in scientific research, butalso in everyday life of human beings, whichmeans it could be expected that each personcreative in any field of life has a kind of theclairvoyance ability.

ConclusionsThe purposes of this work is to clarify, whether the information on the futureobtained by the clairvoyance can be used tochange the future and whether it can be afactor influencing the evolution of livingbeings. It was found that this information onthe whole system future can be used to

change the future of its small part. It wasclarified also that the future of the wholesystem can also be changed, however, not atone step (which is principally impossible),but by use convenient chaines of timeintervals and combinations of step-by-stepsubsequent clairvoyance observations ofeach such interval accompanied by theactions at the beginning of the NEXT one, changing the reality at its end.

It was argued that the clairvoyanceand the possibility of its use to change thefuture can be an important means of thestruggle for life and, therefore, of theevolution of the living beings, in particular, toward the development their quantum mindand its properties such as the creative ability, quantum consciousness, clairvoyance etc.. Itwas argued also that the most creativehuman beings should possess theclairvoyance ability.
