In this pro-cess, both industry-specificand customer-specific stan-dards are realised. In the po-tentiometer technology sen-sors (as passive systems) arevery insensitive to electroma-gnetic influences anyway.

Depending on their technolo-gy and design, Novotechniksensors can be used for tem-perature ranges form -55°C to+140°C. They do not just sa-tisfy standard protection clas-ses up to IP69K, they are alsotested for the most deman-ding requirements, which ex-ceed the pure standard speci-fications. Throttling device E-Gas, Throttling device for idle speed controlThe information detected from the pedal sensor are transmitted to the electric mo-tor-driven throttle valve positionier via control and correction electronics. The cur-rent throttle valve position is measured by an integrated or adapted angle sensor.The idle controller regulates independent of the load the idling speed of the enginethrough the throttle position. This leads to an optimised fuel con-sumpiton.

Electronic pedal SensorElectronic pedal sensor modules comprise an accelerator pedal, angle sensor andmechanics for simulating the traditional feeling of the accelerator pedal for thedriver. When the accelerator pedal is pressed down, the pedal sensor transmitsthe information to the control electronics. Based on this information, the positionof the throttle valve is calculated.

Steering-angle SensorThe steering-angle sensor basically consists of a non-contact angle-measuringdevice or resistive tracks and wipers. The sensor, which is designed as a hollowshaft, is normally mounted on the steering column or at the steering gear.Today adaptive control systems contribute significantly to increasing driving safetyin motor vehicles. These types of control systems improve the transversal dynamicbehavior and assist the driver in critical steering maneuvers, e.g. when veeringquickly or passing.

Gear selection SensorAmongst other things, the gear selection sensor consists of a resis- tance element and wiper support or an non-contacting Sensor. The gear selection sensor has an integrated processor and isused for detecting the position of the gearshift. Since it is a mechatronic system, this sensor comprises mechanical components as an integrated unit (electronicallycontrolled automatic transmission). The gearshift is decoupled mechanically fromthe transmission.When necessary, the driver can select gears in different gear po-sitions by tapping the gearshift sideways.
