Position overview The Campus Bus Driver is responsible for providing a safe and reliable service for staff and students travelling daily from Darwin to Batchelor campus and return, transporting students arriving at Darwin airport from remote and regional areas to Batchelor campus and return, as well as providing a secure service for students wishing to access shopping centres in Palmerston and Darwin during their recreational time whilst on campus. The daily commuter services for staff adheres to a bus route with identified collection points in Darwin, Palmerston and Noonamah. This service runs once a day from Darwin to Batchelor and once a day for the return journey home from Batchelor to Darwin. Transport times for students arriving at Darwin airport to Batchelor campus are listed in the Travel Manifest supplied on a weekly basis by the Student Travel team. Bus Drivers work in collaboration with the Student Travel team to confirm arrivals and departure times for students; they must ensure that students have sufficient time to check into their flights and that they are delivered safely to the airport.

Position overviewThe Campus Bus Driver is responsible for providing a safe and reliable service for staff and students travelling daily from Darwin to Batchelor campus and return, transporting students arriving at Darwin airport from remote and regional areas to Batchelor campus and return, as well as providing a secure service for students wishing to access shopping centres in Palmerston and Darwin during their recreational time whilst on campus.

The daily commuter services for staff adheres to a bus route with identified collection points in Darwin, Palmerston and Noonamah. This service runs once a day from Darwin to Batchelor and once a day for the return journey home from Batchelor to Darwin.

Transport times for students arriving at Darwin airport to Batchelor campus are listed in the Travel Manifest supplied on a weekly basis by the Student Travel team. Bus Drivers work in collaboration with the Student Travel team to confirm arrivals and departure times for students; they must ensure that students have sufficient time to check into their flights and that they are delivered safely to the airport.

The Bus Driver will also be required to transport students from Batchelor campus to shopping centres in Palmerston and/or Darwin for student recreational activities after-hours. These trips will only occur during the weekend and on late-night shopping days by prior arrangement and notification.

The vehicle fleet at Batchelor Institute consists of 22-seater and 12-seater buses, Bus Drivers will be expected to utilise both buses. The Bus Driver is responsible for the safety and comfort of staff and students travelling on the bus on a daily basis and works to maintain a professional and courteous environment on the bus.

Key responsibilities1. Ability to adhere to an identified schedule.

2. The delivery of a timely, consistent and reliable service collecting staff and students from identified stops at Darwin, Palmerston and Noonamah.

3. Ability to coordinate with the fleet team to ensure a seamless delivery of commuter service, works to communicate and notify in advance if extra buses are needed due to commuter numbers being greater than expected.

4. Undertake a safety presentation for all new commuters utilising the bus service. Ensure commuters are compliant with safety requirements whilst travelling on the bus.

5. Ensure that the commuter bus is secured for home garaging at Bus Drivers’ home address.

6. Undertake daily cleaning and maintenance work of the vehicles, including daily sanitizing of the bus, fueling as needed and washing of the bus on a weekly basis.

7. Advise the Manager of Facilities and Infrastructure immediately should the bus breakdown.

8. Provide weekly reports to the Manager of Facilities and Infrastructure of any issues related to the vehicles, service, or commuters.

9. Must be drug and alcohol free whilst driving the commuter bus and abide by the Staff Code of Conduct.

Essential Selection Criteria1. Demonstrated capacity to work within the social, political, and cultural environment of

Indigenous Australian organisations.

2. Demonstrated experience in driving 22-seater and 12-seater commuter buses.

3. Possess a current Criminal History Check or the ability to obtain one.

4. Possess a current NT OCHRE Card or the ability to obtain one.

5. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.

6. Must hold a current Light Rigid (LR) Licence with a H endorsement.

7. Current First Aid certificate.
