Position Overview

The City of Greater Dandenong encompasses an area of 129 square kilometres in Melbourne’s south-east, approximately 35km from Melbourne’s CBD. To liaise with businesses in Greater Dandenong to progress their access and inclusion readiness activities.Creation of a tool kit to support local business Support the Business Development Unit in daily activities Advocate the implementation of the 1% program

Task and Duties

Background – Councils Business Development Directorate operates a range of programs designed to encourage local business to consider people from marginal groups for employment.

The Intern will gain an understanding of these programs and become involved with further development and implementation of existing projects.

The main tasks of this project would be to:

Gain an understanding of existing business development programs at Council

Liaise with key internal staff and external stakeholders to identify opportunities for increased employment

As required contribute to activities such as:

The coordination of Councils Business Golf day held in February 2019 The implementation of the 1% program Developing the tool kit

Travel to visit businesses is an inherent requirement of the role. A Council vehicle will be made available. Alternate methods of travel can be negotiated at the interview.

Remuneration

$25.76 per hour plus super

Eligibility Requirements

Second last or final year of a relevant undergraduate or postgraduate degree

Australian citizens only

The internship will not commence until February 2019 however flexible arrangements can be made for part time or full time participation from that date on.
