Our Values Team work Communication Accountability Honesty Respect Key Responsibilities and Indicators Key Result Areas Key Accountabilities Performance Indicators/Outputs Assigned Driver Responsibilities As the assigned driver to any truck or machinery as qualifications, training and experience allow accept full responsibility for the operation and welfare of the unit including but not limited to remaining within legal limits at all times, operating the vehicle in accordance with the Road Traffic Code, ensuring maximum productivity of the unit, the safety and welfare of any passenger within the cab where appropriate or any work colleague within the immediate environs of the unit. Carry out the daily and weekly inspection of the assigned vehicle and the required daily user maintenance of the vehicle and such other services as required. Report all repairs required and/or shortcomings in the performance of the vehicle to the Supervisor in the prescribed procedure. Undertake the safe operation of the assigned vehicle within the limits of the manufactures specifications. In the event of a vehicle not being available as required at that time carry out so much of the duties of a Level 4 construction worker as can be reasonably accommodated with the vehicles available and/or the activities programmed. Always drive defensively, adhere to the requirements of the Parking Local Law and demonstrate courtesy to other road users. Through training and/or as own experience provides, be prepared to operate other items of plant including Front End Loader, Excavator, Steel Wheel Roller and Multi Tyred Rollers, both on road and in a controlled road closed section. To operate (and undertake such routine servicing as required of) all assigned plant and equipment in accordance with the State Road Rules, Manufacturers Requirements, prevailing Standards, Codes of Practice, Management Practices and Procedures or any legitimate direction from a person having supervisory responsibilities, in a manner which meets the service level commitments and high standard set by JAC Civil Pty Ltd.. Engineering works required for construction and maintenance of Public Infrastructure Carry out all work assigned in a timely, efficient and effective manner to the levels and direction as appropriate. Carry out any designated task as training and ability permits including, but not limited to manual handling tasks Dress appropriately for the task being undertaken. Always wear the PPE as supplied and any other personal protective equipment as required. Always behave in a manner which brings credit to yourself, the directorate and JAC Civil. Comply with the requirement of the Customer Charter as they apply to this position. May be required to determine requirements and arrange/undertake the setting up of the appropriate advanced warning signs and/or other traffic control measures at the commencement of the day and to ensure their continued placement during the day and to remove those sign not required at the close of the day; To undertake a comprehensive range of skilled and semi skilled engineering tasks required for the construction and maintenance of public infrastructure within one or either of the construction or maintenance teams established from time to time and to complete all tasks assigned in a manner consistent with the direction given, the established practices and procedures as appropriate, the requirements of the Customer Charter and the Business Plan and to the high standards required by the Strategic Plan and Statement of Vision and Values.

Assigned Driver Responsibilities

Report any item of maintenance requiring attention on the form provided for that purpose.

Actively participate in Group Tool Box meetings.

Administrative and financial matters are completed in accordance with common practice and to the satisfaction of management.

General Responsibilities

Work in accordance with the JAC Civil’s Occupational Health and Safety Policy and make a proactive contribution to the management of OH & S throughout the organisation ;

Demonstrate commitment to the JAC Civil’s Customer Focus Program.

Adhere to the City’s policies and management practices as amended from time to time;

Contribute to the attainment and development of relevant departmental business goals and objectives.

Ensure quality relationships are maintained with fellow work members and suppliers.

Ensure duties as directed by the Operations Coordinator / Engineering Infrastructure are fully undertaken.

Liaise when required with the construction crews regarding various aspects of the job.

Selection Criteria

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA 1. A current ‘HC’ and ‘C’ Class Queensland Drivers Licence; 2. Proven experience in an engineering construction and maintenance environment. 3. Ability to work unsupervised when the occasion arises; 4. Previous experience driving a variety of trucks and other equipment 5. Ability to effectively communicate in written and verbal form. 6. Ability to establish work priorities and coordinate activities.

PREFERRED CRITERIA 1. Knowledge of Safety Policy requirements as they relate to the job being undertaken and the affect it has on the public; 3. A competency certificate on loaders or similar earthmoving equipment. 5. Previous employment as a multi task construction worker in any organisation.
