Individual Report Jungian Type Indicator
This report is designed to help you understand your results on the Jungian
Type Indicator (JTI). Personality profiles outline the way that different
sorts of people process information, make decisions, and view the world.
The JTI is based on the work of arl Jung, and his concepts of the centralcharacteristics which can be used to describe the similarities and
differences between personality types. !y using self"report preferences ona range of everyday activities and feelings, the JTI provides some clarity
around your strengths and weaknesses and your preferred thinking andfeeling styles.
#hen reading the report, please keep the following points in mind$
The JTI is not a test. It describes different personalities. It does not
tell you how you %should& be.
There are no %good& or %bad& personality types in JTI, nor are there
%right& or %wrong& answers.
'll types are valuable and people of all types eist and function in
all kinds of roles in society.
The way that you have answered shows your cognitive preferences.
It does not mean you are limited to one side of the coin. omebodywho values %Thinking& still naturally has an ethical code and acts on
it * they +ust prefer to use Thinking rather than eeling to makedecisions when possible.
-any things can influence your JTI score, including your mood and
mindset when filling it out. omestic or work stress, illness or worrycan all influence the way you answer the /uestions.
0our results do not show how mature or how talented you are. They
show how strong your preferences are for different cognitive styles.

Four Basic Preferences
0our result contains four separate measures. 1ach measure is a
dichotomy, that is, it presents you with one of two choices. 0our
preference on each measure, according to Jungian personality theory, helps to eplain how you observe the world, what you notice, and how
you interpret what you see. The four measures are as follows$
Extraversion versus Introversion (E-I)This measure describes where you focus your attention and reflectswhether you are an etravert or an introvert. 1traverts spend their time
out in the world. They focus their perception and +udgement on people
and ob+ects. They draw energy from spending time with other people.Introverts spend their time inside their heads. They focus their perception
and +udgement on concepts and ideas. They often need time alone to%recharge&.
Sensing versus Intuiting (S-N)
This measure looks at perception$ it describes how you absorb informationabout the world. People who have a ensing preference rely first and
foremost on the real world as they see and hear it. They rely onobservation. People who have an Intuiting preference are more likely to
rely on meanings, concepts and connections which are made in theunconscious or subconscious mind.
Thinking versus Feeling (T-F)This measure looks at +udgement$ it describes your decision"makingprocess. People with a Thinking preference are more likely to look at the
facts and make a logical, rational decision which fits the situation. Peoplewith a eeling preference look at the human element and consider the
ethical side of a /uestion when making their decision.
Judging versus Perceiving (J-P)
This measure describes the way that you deal with the information thatyou absorb about the outside world. ' person with a Judging preference ismore likely to use their Thinking 2 eeling processes to make sense of the
outside world. ' person with a Perceiving preference is more likely to use
their ensing 2 Intuiting processes to make sense of the outside world.

The 16 Types
The result you receive after completing the JTI gives you a score on each
of the four measures which shows which choice you prefer in each case.
#ith two options per measure this gives siteen different possiblecombinations * the siteen types. 1ach type is referred to by the uni/ue
combinations which form it.
or instance, a person might score 1traverted, ensing, Thinking,Judging. This is abbreviated to 1TJ, which is their personality type. 1ach
type has its own strengths, weaknesses, and blind spots.
Jung&s theory suggests certain relationships between the preferences.
1ach type has a dominant process and an accompanying auiliary process.1ach type also characteristically uses these processes in Introverted or
1traverted attitudes. The particularly personality of each type is formedby the interaction of these processes. The siteen possible personality
types in JTI are displayed below.

Portrait of an INFP
The Idealist
The first thing youll notice about INFPs is that they are often very
withdrawn or can come off as quiet and are sometimes assumed to be shy.The INFP is by definition an introvert. This means that they are energized
by being alone and having the sace they need to recharge. !i"e allintroverts the INFP en#oys the e$loration of their own mind where they can
sort out their thoughts and feelings.
The INFP is first focused on their internal feelings and how e$ternal thingsaffect them. They then use their intuition to ro#ect what they are feeling.
Make the World Better
The INFP is very eole%focused and will often be considered a
humanitarian. &hilst all Intuitive Feeling tyes are focused on ma"ing theworld a better lace the INFP ta"es this a ste even further. Their life is
based around ma"ing meaning of everything that haens to them. Theybelieve that everything haens for a reason and that there is urose. 'any
INFPs will dedicate their whole lives to this notion believing that they areunique and that they have a role to fulfil. 'any of them can get quite hard
on themselves if they do not reach their set standards of what they believethey must achieve.
Help Those Around You
The INFP li"es to serve those around them. They li"e to feel useful( needed. They feel that if they can hel those around them achieve hainess thenthey themselves will also be content. The INFP will often view the world
through rose%tinted glasses and wants to believe the best about eole.)owever the INFP is not immune from cynicism if they have been
mistreated throughout their life.
The INFP will use their intuition to guide them when it comes to ma"ing
decisions about eole. They rely heavily on this to hel them ma"emeaning out of the underlying things in their lives. *n e$amle of this is an
INFP 'att who believed that the time he tried over on the street and

wound u in hosital with a bro"en leg was meant to be. There he wastreated by a nurse called +ane who is now his wife. &hilst others would
call this a coincidence or #ust lain good luc"( or erhas clumsiness onthe behalf of 'att( INFPs will believe that this was fate.
Always Feeling Connected
,very single encounter is imortant to the INFP. ,very connection( every
moment shared. -onding with others is essential to the INFP as they believethat the human e$erience is at the ea" of what is most imortant in our
lives. This ma"es the INFP a good friend. They value their friendshis verystrongly. They are good listeners and are very considerate and thoughtful.
They are genuinely interested in what the other erson has to say. They wantto e$erience what the other has( often utting themselves in the others
shoes. The INFP ta"es time getting to "now eole( but when they do theyform a very dee bond. The INFP ma"es an e$cellent erson to confide in asthey come off as non%#udgmental and can ut eole at ease.
Conflict-Avoidant Mediators
The INFP can be very conflict%avoidant. *s the INFP feels their emotions at
the very centre of their being( any conflict can be quite damaging to theirstability. The INFP doesnt focus so much on who is right or who is wrong
but more on how this interaction ma"es them feel. They do not li"e negativefeelings nor do they want others to feel that way. They will often give in
during an argument if they feel that the connection between them and theother is at ris". This can ma"e them aear a bit illogical( but to them logic
isnt as imortant and the connection to the other. !osing a friend oversomething as etty as an argument is a nightmare to them.
ue to the INFPs ability to understand other eoles emotions( they ma"e
really good mediators and are tyically good at resolving other eolesconflicts. They are good at heling eole e$ress their ersectives.
efensive a!out "deals# $asy-going a!out $verything $lse
The INFP is generally very easy%going until somebody threatens one of their
ideals. &hen this haens the INFP becomes very defensive to the oint ofbeing aggressive. &hen the INFP becomes assionate they go on a crusade
to hel their cause. *n e$amle of this is that a lot of INFPs are volunteerwor"ers heling out in shelters( or animal rights activists. They truly believe
that they are doing good for the world and become energized by this belief.
INFPs are not very detail%orientated about the mundane asects of theirlives. Theyre not always good at aying bills on time( and they dont get

that wor"ed u if somebody left a wine stain on their caret. /omething li"ethat is trivial and not worth any negative energy. )owever if said INFP is a
vegetarian and somebody coo"s a stea" on their grill( their eaceful naturemight quic"ly change.
&hen under stress( an INFP will use hard facts and logic but usually it is
thrown out in an emotional outburst and has a tendency of coming acrossinaccurate or illogical.
A %ersonal Touch
INFPs believe that all solutions to roblems should ta"e into account the
human asect. Feelings( emotions( ersonal validity are all very imortantwhen it comes to decision ma"ing. ue to this feelings%driven decision
ma"ing rocess( the INFP is not overly fond of hard facts and logic. They donot want to ma"e imersonal decisions as this feels as though it is goingagainst their truest nature. INFPs also do not li"e over%analytical and
imersonal questioning. Instead of as"ing an INFP to fill out a survey youdget much more information by having a conversation with them.
High &tandards
INFPs are erfectionists and hold themselves to high standards. If they dont
reach that standard they can be very hard on themselves and dive into a deederession. &hen wor"ing in grous of eole the INFP will hold them at a
higher standard comared to everybody else. They may also have roblemswith control. &hilst wanting to be a leader the INFP often lac"s the
necessary force to do so.
ue to the INFP having very high standards and ideals about life they canget very confused about what it is that they actually want to do with their
lives. This can lead to aralytic fear and stagnation that can last many years.
A 'ast and 'ivid "(agination
The INFP has a vast and vivid imagination as they are intuitive. This ma"esfor e$cellent writing. The INFP is able to e$ress ideas better in te$t than
out loud. This is generally true for all introverts as there can be a fear abouthow the listener resonds.
Help the World
INFP/ are best in a field where they are wor"ing towards a humanitarian
goal of some descrition. This will hel them feel li"e they are having a

more fulfilled life. ,$amles of this would be counselling( social services(and teaching. * #ob that will allow them to hel the greater good is ideal.
* healthy INFP is able to accomlish many wonderful and awe insiring
things in their lives if they can learn to give themselves a brea". They needto learn to use the same comassion that they have for everybody else on
themselves.

INFPs resent to the world a tranquil and calm outer aearance. They have
simle desires when it comes to forming connections with others. *ll they
really want is for somebody to see how secial they are. )ow unique andcaable they are. They dont want other eole to change them nor do theywant to change those around them. They see each erson as an individual
that needs secial treatment.
The INFP feels their connection with those they bond with very deely.Their feelings are very intense which is not found so commonly in other
tyes. They care very deely about those around them and can have a habitof falling in love with their friends. This doesnt mean that they lust over
everybody more that they very deely feel connected.
Cautious# !ut &ensitive and %rotective
They are very sensitive to other eoles feelings so they will hel nurturethose around them. They sincerely want to hel them feel good about
themselves and want the best for them.
The INFP is very cautious when forming new friendshis and bonds. 8ncethey are committed the INFP is fiercely loyal and can be very rotective.
They will oen u their core and allow others to "now how they are feeling.Through sharing feelings( memories( and dreams the INFP bonds with
eole. This ma"es them feel very connected to those they care deely aboutas they do not share this with #ust anybody.
When Things +o Wrong
The INFP is generally very rela$ed in their relationshis until somebody
violates one of their values. &hen this haens the INFP will behave veryuncharacteristically by becoming harsh and distant. This however usets the
INFP a great deal.

")F%s as ,overs
INFPs are very relationshi driven. If they are not in one( they will be
actively searching for one or idealising one inside their head. 6elationshis
hel the INFP feel urose in life and given them a sense of belonging. TheINFP is very loyal and committed to the relationshi and will go to greatlengths to rotect it.
*o(antic rea(ers
The INFP often daydreams about their relationshis or if they arent in onethen they will dream about one that doesnt e$ist anywhere outside of their
minds. They are constantly coming u with new and better ways to ma"etheir relationshis more erfect. They idealise their artners and give them
qualities that they do not have. 'ost INFPs however do not achieve thisstate of erfection in their relationshis that they idealise so more often than
not they will be somewhat deressed 2even though they will rarely admitthis to their artners3. The INFP will often also ma"e u e$cuses for their
artners if they feel that there is something wrong. 8h( +ohn #ust isnt hisusual self right now. INFPs feel very deely and sincerely about their
artners so desite any unsettled feelings they may be e$eriencing in therelationshi they will avoid conflict and remain loyal.
8ther tyes are also rone to holding their artners u on a edestal butINFPs are able to turn this into a ositive thing in their relationshis. Thehealthy INFP wor"s hard at seeing their artners in the best ossible light by
being constantly reassuring( encouraging( and affectionate. This attitudeshels enable their relationshis to most often be long term. 'any INFPs will
settle down early and mate for life.
%ractical Matters
INFPs are not really focused on aying bills or housewor" but when given
the right encouragement by their artners they can erform theseadministrative tas"s very well. They are also good at "eeing an eye onfinances when it their role to do so. 8ften however it is easier for the artner
to be more in touch with such matters.
"n The Bedroo(
/e$ually INFPs ta"e quite some time at oening u to their artners due totheir cautious nature. Trust needs to be earned as their hearts can be easily
bro"en and disaointment doesnt sit well with them. For the INFP se$isnt #ust a hysical act but also a siritual( emotional( and sychological

e$erience. They view se$ as a dee bonding moment that needs to ta"etime and allow for them to have their hearts oen u. They ma"e very
affectionate lovers who will caress their artner with sweet words. Thehysical side isnt as imortant to them as the emotional bonding. &ith the
INFPs dee%seated need to lease others and ut their needs ahead of theirown the INFP will ma"e sure that their lovers se$ual needs are catered for.
$asily Wounded
Their great disli"e for conflict can resent a roblem for INFPs as they do
not handle it very well and any criticism( constructive or otherwise( will beseen as an imending fight. The INFP cant hel but ta"e a critical comment
ersonally and will feel li"e their character is under attac" even if that wasnot the intention. &hen this haens the INFP is rone to irrational and
emotional outbursts. This really becomes a roblem when the INFP is in arelationshi with a erson who has Thin"ing and +udging references. TheT+ will often be oinionated( decisive( and rone to thin"ing in blac" and
white terms. The T+ is also very imersonal in their roblem solving whichcan uset and threaten the INFP who will resond to this negatively and
emotionally. INFPs will generally blame themselves for resonding li"ethat.
ra(atic When pset
The INFP can be a bit dramatic about where they foresee their relationshis
going if they are in a bad headsace. If they erceive the relationshi to beall doom and gloom they will react quite emotionally during any conflict
situation. The roblem with their emotional outbursts is that they feel li"ethey have no control over them and do not "now what ne$t action to ta"e to
sto the rollercoaster. They try at all costs to sto whatever conflict it is thatthey are e$eriencing which unfortunately can result in irrational behaviour
such as lashing out at others( guilting their artners to give them moreositive suort( or withholding se$ until their artner behaves in a way that
they feel is more aroriate. This does not bode well for a healthyrelationshi and INFPs that are aware of this haening may do well to
wor" on themselves and try to see the conflict from an ob#ective ersective.
Freedo( and "ndependence
INFPs need a lot of sace and they recognise others needs as well. Theyneed the freedom to be able to do their own thing. The INFP is not overly
#ealous or ossessive and they will resect their artners rights to rivacy. The INFP li"es their artners to be indeendent and will firmly suort them
to reach their goals."n &u((ary

8verall INFPs are gentle and loving artners that ma"e their relationshis

towards their artners. They are loyal and suortive and ut in atremendous amount of effort to ma"e their relationshis wor".

")F%s as %arents
The INFP ta"es on the role of arent willingly and enthusiastically. They
feel li"e it is their natural role to be a arent and tend to en#oy it greatly.-eing in a arental role gives the INFP the chance to e$lore their ownvalues and understand them better. They will then ass these onto theirchildren. INFPs ma"e warm and affirming arents that ta"e everything in
their stride.
Fle.i!le and &upportive
INFPs li"e to remain fle$ible and romote feelings of well being in aconflict free environment. They disli"e conflict in their home and do not feel
comfortable being the one to dole out unishment. They dont want theirchildren to see them as harsh or unsuortive and worry that unishing them
will sever connections they have with them. The INFP will more often thannot rely on their artner to be the bad co and them the good co. They
find it easier to align themselves with their artners ideals on what is andisnt accetable and discilinary olicy. If the INFP does not have a artner
then they must ma"e an effort to create their own structure for their childrento live within.
&trong 'alues
The INFP has strong ideals on what is right and wrong. If they feel that their
child has most certainly behaved in a matter that they consider wrong thenthey will not hesitate to administer unishment. They will dig in their heels
until their child sees that they have behaved badly and demand that theyma"e amends.
Always ,istening and &upporting
The INFP will give their children a lot of room to grow u into individuals.* child with an INFP arent will find that their voice is always heard andthey will always be welcome bac" home no matter how old they are.
The INFP will always ta"e the side of their child. Their loyalty towards their
family goes without saying. The INFP arent is very deely loving andnurturing towards their children.

")F%s as Friends
INFPs li"e to have a variety of different friends. They are not so concerned
with how their friends loo" to the outside world( but are more interested inthe emotional atmoshere they bring.
The INFP gets along best with other Intuitive Feelers2NFs3 because of there
comatibility when it comes to having high ideals. 8ther NFs are li"ely toalso resond in a similar manner and give the INFP what they crave from
others in terms of emotional fulfilment.
INFPs will have a difficult time with eole that have strong Thin"ing and+udging references. &hilst they can wor" well with them in a rofessional
environment they will have a hard time areciating and getting to "nowthem on a ersonal level. 8ver all( they will be drawn to others with feeling
references.
&low to Trust# ,oyal and Caring
INFPs( li"e many introverts( "ee themselves shut off from other eoleuntil they have built u enough trust to let them in. &hen and if that haens
the INFP becomes a truly great friend. They are non%#udgmental and willing

Potential to be close minded to other eoles oinions.
'ay be unsure of aroriate social interaction.
Tendency to ta"e on a victim role( blaming all their roblems onother eole.

$.planation of %ro!le(s
The INFPs ersonality characteristics can be easily summed u by saying
that the INFP collects all the information around them and #udges it by howit ma"es them feel. If something goes against the natural flow of the INFPsinternal emotional and mental landscae they will bloc" it out or even try toforcefully remove it. They do this as a matter of survival to rotect their
already sensitive syche. This is a very natural and effective way to shieldoneself from the outside world.
This method will only wor" if the INFP will occasionally allow themselves
to feel challenged in order for self growth to be able to ta"e lace. *n INFPthat does not allow this to haen will become more and more self absorbed
and will be unable to get a good gras on reality. This can be quitedebilitating and isolating. The INFP that is unaware of the outside reality
will find it ever increasingly difficult to ma"e meaningful bonds andconnections with others and will have a hard time maintaining e$isting
relationshis with those around them. The INFP will always find ways to#ustify their inaroriate behaviour( finding faults in those around them.
,et )ew "deas "n
The INFP will loo" to the e$ternal world to find suort for their values andideas. If they are already quite rotective of themselves this can cause themto become even further self absorbed. They need to find a good balance with
the outside world to get a different ersective. The more they try toe$ternalize the more they will feel more settled and grounded.
-
7/24/2019 Portrait of an Infp
22/22
&olutions
In order for the INFP to grow as an individual they will need to be less
rotective of their own thoughts and ideals and be oen to the reality around
them. The INFP needs to learn to ta"e in information that contradicts theirviews and be oen to ob#ective criticism. The INFP needs to consciously tellthemselves that a difference of oinion does not ma"e the erson bad orsearate from themselves and see it for what it is( nothing more than #ust a
difference in oinion.
*n INFP needs to sit bac" and really thin" about the reasons they discardone iece of information and attend to another. oes it #ust ma"e it easier for
them to "ee their resent viewsB
