Portland Museum is Home to Vast Art Collection and Historic Landmark By Stewart Strawbridge

Introduction• Investment professional Stewart Strawbridge was the

founder of the financial advisory firm Selkirk Partners. In addition, Stewart Strawbridge is on the board of trustees of the Portland Museum of Art (PMA), which is home to an extensive art collection. With a goal of creating outstanding artistic and cultural programming, the PMA’s corpus includes important works of American and European art, along with key works from Maine artists.

With more than 18,000 pieces of art, PMA’s collection includes works by art notables such as Andy Warhol, Winslow Homer, and Claude Monet.

Portland Museum• To help visitors experience its broad collection of art,

the PMA frequently changes pieces on view. In addition, the museum provides images of its full collection online to grant access to art lovers in any location.

As a complement to its in-house body of works, in 2006 the museum also acquired the eponymous Winslow Homer Studio, where the great artist created many masterpieces from 1884 until he passed away. A national landmark, the Winslow Homer Studio is now open for tours, which provide visitors insight on the life and art of Winslow Homer.
