Individual Housing

Prof.: Luca Ortelli (Atelier Ortelli)Bachelor BA2

Page 6: Portfolio'14 (English version)

The project is on the west side of Lausanne. The north, south and west walls are party walls with others plots of the same size, so openings are limited on sides.

Based on the idea that « A house is air contained in four walls », the subject developed is the patio. It pro-poses a space where patios become open-air rooms and extensions of the interior rooms.

Upstairs, this relation to the outside is articulated thanks to spaces, kinds of alcoves, that allow the occu-pant to sit near the window and enjoy a view to the outside.

Mountain Inn

Prof.: Patrick Mestelan (Atelier AIC)Bachelor BA3

Page 10: Portfolio'14 (English version)

The project is located in the canton of Valais, on a ground near Chindonne’s pasture at an altitude of 1600 meters. We had to develop a « Mountain Inn » with a cafeteria, relaxation places and capable to accomodate around 70 to 80 people.

The Guideline concept was to work with the mineral aspect of the project working on the way walls are articulated, cross and move away. The project is based on a distinctive feature of the ground : a little bump. Walls become an echo of this particularity. They become kinds of strata that bend, squeeze up and break up creating meeting spaces. When they overlap it generates stairs and circulation spaces.

Olympic pool in Dorigny

Prof.: Patrick Mestelan (Atelier AIC)Bachelor BA4

Page 14: Portfolio'14 (English version)

The project is locatde in Dorigny, near the campus sport center. The exercice proposed to conceive a swimming pool that integrates the already existing facilities.

The guideline was to give each swimming pool a different orientation and relation to the site. Each one of them as a different view but also a different level. Cloakrooms are in the building’s basement.

The structure gives a calm and a strong appearance to the building.

«Living the city»

Prof.:A.Lacaton&J.-P.VassalBachelor BA6

Page 22: Portfolio'14 (English version)

ThestyleofAnneLacatonandJean-PhilippeVassalisanchoredon«aconstantfocusonthequalityofusage and innovation on the living spaces by creating more open and spacious rooms. ». In order to insure that their objectives of comfort and vast spaces are met, they focus on the context, the budget of the project and the optimization of building methods

This studio proposes a whole an sensitive approach to the project : no programme, no square-meters, and no plan.

The goal of this project was to select a set of images that inspire us and evoke a certain atmosphere, a feeling, an ambience. Only then by putting these images next to each other, draw a plan. The current theme is the succession of spaces « common and shared », « private and intimate » and « private and common ».

The project proposed by the studio was the raising of the museum of modern and contemporary art mu-séum in Geneva. The idea was to notify the main entrances to the muséum. Based on the exposition « NEON parallax » taking place on the plaine of Plainpalais, this elevvation becomes a signal, an illuminated sign that could be seen from far away.

It welcomes activities that complete the museum programme : A meeting room, a bar and extra showrooms. The choosen building materials are semi-transparent, they allow the building to « glow » during the night when the lights are powered up.
