Coruña-KyotoRefurbishment project for a Japanese restaurant

place: A Coruña (Spain)client: Jesús Hernándezyear: 2012

In collaboration with Inés García

The own identity is the leitmotif of this proposal for a Japanese Restaurant. A wooden structure working at the same time as the finish face and the furniture, provides a new rhythm which divides the strongly marked longitudinal space. A total cover, a warm space with rounded lines which surrounds us with the welcoming texture of wood and let us see the ancien skin of the establishment covered with wallpaper. These wooden stripes end by working and storage spaces above the bar, to give service to the isolated sushimen.

Half floor houseDetached house

place: Cabanas. A Coruñaclient: Víctor Carballido year: 2011area: 200 m2

budget: 60,000 €programme: A house provided for the landstatus: Under constructionin collaboration with SOMAA

A plot with a height slope and amazing views define how to place in the land. A stuck stone appears as a clean volume reducing the groundfloor surface and merging from the landscape to control it and taking part of it without complexes. Besides, the piece is lightly tourned to find views and southwest orientation, which results in two different elevations, complementaries and opposites, one of them closed and compact and the other one, completely perforated.

The narrow plot, with only 8 metres long makes the piece being prolonged. And this extended volume breaks in two parts, in order to adapt to the slope, making the house being developped in half floors.

Page 5: *PORTFOLIO13*

Because of this, a spiral circulation appears and there is no need of a corridor, which allows the transit between rooms directly.

So, each half floor accepts a different room. And each room has its own floor.

The location of the new pieces of the complex is adapted to the topographie and divides the existed land in three courtyards for the dogs hosted in each of the buildings. Materials, structure and build proccess are reduced to the minimun, searching simplicity and powerful shape. The result is constructive truth and effective solution of the program and needs.

TheatricalCommercial refurbishment

place: A Coruñayear: 2011area: 200 m2

budget: 40.000 €sup/m2: 200 €/m2

programme: architecture though for kids

status: builtin collaboration with SOMAA

This refurbishment is destinated to a very particular establishment, an English school through theater.

The main space, geometrically regular and which could be used as stage, is open to the street thank to the great wooden door. The limit between interior and exterior or public and private turn to be blur and redefined by it. This door is teinted pink to respect the existant corporate image. And the logo is maked with metallic bars.

The three classrooms are similar in dimensions and they are characterized by its doors, pretty singulars and linked to the real users of the space, kids.

V4JCompetition. Young housing

place: Cordoba (Spain)client: CCC4year: 2011

programme: research in housing for the future

status: awardedin collaboration with SOMAA

This project is based on the mathematical Game of life conceived by John Conway in 1970.

KEL, LAR and GOLThe KELIS are spaces to contain life, customized for each individual, fitting his way of living.

The KELIS are joined into LARES, which can house different number of KELIS, which are going to share some exclusive services for them, the common kitchen, the terrace, the comunications...At the same time, GOL offers other different services, modified by the population segment which embrace. From public to private there is not only one filter, but several.

Page 11: *PORTFOLIO13*

We dispose 56 KELIS of 25m² each. If they were convenctional houses, they would have 54 m². But, they give a percentage of its surface to add to the common uses. In 54 m² is not possible having all the services that we obtain joining each little area given by the KELIS.

The common services have different grades of privacy, some of them are rented by everyone, others are just for the tenants, and some of them, both, the MULTITASK, they are rented to anyone becoming an extra income for the community.

We have, in total 11 LAR which host 56 KEL + 9 multitask:1 LAR of 1 KEL1 LAR of 2 KELIS4 LAR of 4 KEL+1 multitask1 LAR of 5 KEL+1 multitask4 LAR of 8 KEL+1 multitask

proposal:Restore and preserve the hole area, fomed by sites, assets, routes and the san xoán village through the interpretation centre which tries to arrange the urban, rururban and natural warps by using renovated resources from the rural Galicia and also the celtic traditions. Promote relations between the parties and the mixture flow and diversity of uses, solving the building in the most simple way and chosing its place as a continuation of the village, 10 minutes walking from the settlement.

Final projectInterpretation centre for the Castro of A Cibdá.

place: Borneiro.year: 2010

programme: museum and archaeological reseach centre for the celtic fort of a Cibdá in Borneiro.status: grade 8.5/10

Page 13: *PORTFOLIO13*

The two volumes, one for research and administration, and the other one for the exhibition area, are adapted to topography and uneven ground, allowing the creation of an atrium for the people at its upper bound and a lower path that focus the visitor towards the museum and the fort. The folds in the facades reduce the scale of the building and confirm the firmness of its forms, witch locates the centre in the path as other milestone.

VPO_OPHAcademical project of 1,000 official protection housing

place: Milladoiroprofessor: Fernando Blancoyear: 2009

status: grade 8/10

By turning the housing blocks intersticial spaces appear, so they are used for common uses in two different levels (0.0m y -3.3m).The upper creates new public squares, and the lower, equipments, access, commercial premises, and parking. Besides all of this, a new partly underground road is made to ease congestion.

A minimum standard unit is the base to join other cantilevered pieces to get more surface to obtain the different typologies of houses.

There are 4 types of dwellings:studio(40m2)2 bedrooms(60m2)3 bedrooms(70m2)and loft(90m2)

The elevations result in regular and organized facades by one side, and the other side, just the opposite, they appear free and caothic. There are 2 kind of blocks, generated by repetition and agregation: the small ones, formed by 6 houses by floor, and the bigger ones, make of 10, all they have semi-common terraces to share for each two houses. And the same happens with the circulation complex formed by elevator and stairs for use of 2 dwellings per floor.
