RETAIL DESIGNBA RETAIL/COMMERCIAL DESIGN MANAGEMENTUsing my love for cars and motor racing I chose to create a Go Karting facility like no other (at the time) which offered educational visits for local schools, a changing race track, corporate events along with a retail outlet to get kitted out in and a unique cafe situated in the middle of the race track; perfect for spectators.

BITS ON THE SIDEINTERIOR DESIGNI decided to ‘spread my wings’ and rather than teach what I know I started putting it into practice through freelancing. The client had moved house and requested a ‘Shades of Grey’ bedroom (in the tonal sense) but had to use their existing furniture as they had a tight budget.

MISCELLANEOUS

SELF INITIATED WORKSome examples of posters and invites I designed that have been used throughout my time in my current job; following the strict instructions and requirements from superiors.A few examples of my photographic work used to create wall art for family and friends.A hand illustrated display board to promote GCSE Graphic Products in school and to encourage students to choose Technology as a GCSE option.

ABOUT ME

I have been a design teacher for 11 years and specialise in teaching Graphic Design and Graphic Products from the ages of 11 – 18yrs.My degree is in Retail/Commercial Design Management and my love of this has meant I used every opportunity to create retail, interior, exhibition and stage design based projects within my lessons.

The love of my subject has enabled me to create an atmosphere of inspiration in everything I do. I am expected to stay up to date with new technologies, making the students aware of these and teach them where necessary. I regularly use a range of Adobe Creative Suite products and Google SketchUp within lessons and have previous, but limited experience, with AutoCAD.

I just love to draw and use technology; my strengths have always been perspective drawings and being able to visualise spaces in their best possible context and using technology has always been easy for me as I am a tactile learner and very hands on.
