1. YatchsDuring my professional internship I had the opportunity to work with the only luxury yachts manufacturer in Colombia: NavalCat Internacional S.A.S.

This work was for their flagships: YachtCat Fly Bridge 50’ and the YachtCat Sport Fish 56’, with 1 master room and 2 guest rooms; both made for the USA (Miami) market.

As part of the design team, I was in charge of the drapery and upholstery design, designing and producing the walls, sofas, windows frames, drapes, exterior furniture, hardwood floors and carpets.

The designs were developed according to clients’ requirements and tastes. All the fabrics and polyurethane leathers were imported from the USA. The manpower, foams and other materials are from Colombia.

Sketching

For the design of the interiors I made a series of explorative sketches to understand luxury yachts aesthetics and use of spaces.

FurnitureThe tricky part about yacht interiors is the space distribution. Every centimeter of the boat has to be used for the placement of several systems.

This yacht has three floors, thats why the bottom of the sofas is part of the ceiling of the two guest’s rooms in the bottom floor. That’s

why the sofas need to have steps and square design.

Also, I had to take into account that the sofas were fixed to the boat, so I had to design a system that let the back of the sofa to be detached in case a repair is needed.

The solution was to put a stainless steel plate in the back, and put another one embedded in the fiber-glass of the boat.

The final designs were discussed with the clients to fit their tastes.

Everything in a yacht has to be detachable in order to make any repair easier. That’s why the shades had to be assembled into a removable wall frame, made with fiber-glass and upholstered with polyurethane faux leather. The shades are made with wood slats covered with genuine hand-stiched leather.

All the upholstery of the boat was made using Ultraleather reference, a polyurethane fabric developed for the aquatic environments and fire regulations.

The walls and ceilings panels were made using polymer tracks with foam pads, that can be easily removed if it is necessary.

A human-powered aquatic vehicle, made for recreational purpose, with trimaran design for maximum stability and hydrodynamics.

2. UsNavy

As a part of a university project we were asked to design and build an aquatic unipersonal transport. That’s how UsNavy was born. An aquatic trimaran designed for recreational purposes in lakes or slow rivers.

The main hull design was inspired by traditional surf boards. It has a wooden skeleton with Styrofoam molds covered in fiber-glass with epoxy resin for better mechanic performance.

The side hulls were made with fiber-glass serial planes for the skeleton and fiber-glass with epoxy for the body. They were designed to provide maximum stability and hydrodynamics.

Several tests were taken before the. final prototype. A 1:10 scaled wooden model was made to test the hydrodynamics of the design.

Lipgloss dispenser, made for young females with a modern and fashion lifestyle. With a mechanical system for 3 different colors and a digital display for remaining units.

Alternatives

University project based on the publicity campaign made by AVON, called ColorTrends.

The device consists of a portable lip-gloss dispenser, made to attract people into knowing the new color line from Avon.

The user can select between three di�erent lip-gloss colors and it has a small digital display that shows the remaining units

It is targeted toward the aesthetic and social-cultural trending of the night clubbing zones of the city of Medellín.

The final user is a female between 18 and 27 years of age, who has inter-ests in fashion and has fun with friends.

With the retro style of the 80’s FM

radios, Woogie is an aquatic vehicle for fishing and vintage lovers. It has acces-sories that provide the storage and tools needed in fishing. Also, the catamaran hull accomplishes a better balance when standing up.

4. Woogie A creativi t y exercise project

Powerful electric quad-bike, made for rescue operations. Its high torque engine, size and storage capacity make Thor the ultimate transport for emergency entities.

5. Thor Thor is a fully electric vehicle for the transport of tools and people wound-ed during Rescue & Recovery opera-tions.

The requirements were discussed with members of the fire department of the city and compared with the information of several stats of

accidents and catastrophes in the region over the last 10 years.

Its size and torque, thanks to the electric engine, allow the bike to pass through the most di�cult terrains and collapsed structures.

The smaller size of the components

(compared with a combustion engine) and the location of the engine brings more storage capabili-ties.

Process

The steel chassis was tested using the Static Simulation module of Solidworks. It was calculated to support the weight of two people, the tools and rescue gear, medical kits and electrical components.

The whole electric system was designed and tested in order to allow the bike to have more space for storage and reduce the weight.We used a three-phase electrical engine connected to plumb batteries.

The body of the bike is made of translucent acrylic plates, that let the user know sooner which tools and gears are in the bike.
