Year: Fall 2011 [junior 3rd year]Instructor: Kathy KambicPresentation Type: [final] pdf slideshowProject Type: Printing laboratory and officesLocation: Cherokee Street Denver Colora-do USASQFT: ~20,000 sqftGrade: APrograms Used: Rhino, Vray, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesignProject Description: High performance green building, whos objective is to promote the productivity of both the interior and the environment. This five story tall building is going to be located in the center of the Golden Triangle District in Denver, Colorado. The façade is made out of recycled crystal coated with an unoxidizable steel skin that consists of a mesh that will allow natural light in the building, however it will not allow UV rays to filter thorugh. As a building with a common structure a “second” skin was added with an innovative pixelated design that will not only be aesthetical but it will also help regulate the amount of natural light that filters through as well as creating/ distinguishing public and private spaces. The mesh will play a recreational role that will not affect the functionality of the property or building. Additionally, the building will utilize natural light to the maximum, which will be complimented with the lighting design created by LUA Kai Diederichsen; thereby, the building will have savings of about 30% of the electric energy. It is also estimated that this building, in comparison with the other common buildings, will save 70% of water, this will be achieved through recycling rain water and then using it in the bathrooms.
