The LA 2111L Main Design Project will be the entry landscape to the HOLA Campus’ new Arts and Recreation Center . A 25,000 square foot state of the

art facility.

The new Center will consist of modular structures with many of the modulars built from single use shipping containers that

are converted into music and activity rooms, community

rooms, and creative lab spaces.

HOLA envisions a passive space with some seating areas for both individuals and groups, circulation throughout and is requiring the landscape to have a relationship to the new building physically, socially and symbolically while also creating a visually appealing view when walking to or out of the front of the building.

Visibility into the space will be important as there are safety issues that will need to be addressed on site and within the surrounding neighborhood.

Knowing that these issues exist, also be thinking of how big and thoughtful ideas can address and/or accommodate them through design intervention.

The entrance of Heart of Los Angeles is welcome to everyone and is for everyone to enjoy and come together all at once. Beinglocated in a rough neighborhood, HOLA should be acknowledged to those who need help towards providing a safe environment for families, as well as educational purposes to help strive for success for children and teens. Everyone deserves to feel safe despite everything else around them that is taking place today, and HOLA’s goal is to bring everyone together and provide the need and help they deserve for their family. This axial design provides HOLA to be the center for everything around the public, despite what affects them negatively, HOLA pprovides that positivity that everyone wants in their lives. Being located in the center, it provides an element that people should aim towards HOLA, as well as the shape of the ground, the bricks that are aligned towards the center helps target the public’s eye and provide the very best they want for their kids in order to help them reach for their dreams, all while nishing their education. They are the future and their knowledge will help shine the world for better days to come.

LANDSCAPEOF

DREAMS

The entrance of Heart of Los Angeles is wel-come to everyone and is for everyone to enjoy and come together all at once. Being located in a rough neighborhood, HOLA should be acknowledged for providing a safe environment for families, as well helping children and teens strive for an educational success. My design concept is for a place where everyone can share and collect their dreams. Near the entrance, visitors write their dream on a pebble and toss it in the fountain where others can have a glance at and be able to feel the touch and sound of the water and read people’s words and memories. Towards the rest of the site, the pathways are curvy surrounded with elm and birch trees, both which have a symbolism of new begin-nings,intuition, and inner strength. Kids were asked to paint a picture of what their lives consist of on a daily basis and they expressed that extremely, but here they have a chance to put it in words on a rock as well where people can also acknowledge these through the pathways. Each of these kids are the future and their knowledge will help shine the world for better days to come within the Landscape of Dreams.
