About me

I graduated from Iowa State University with my Bachelor of Architecture degree in December of 2010. After obtaining my degree I worked for Laugerman Architects, Inc. for over a year as an Intern Architect and Building Information Modeling (BIM) Leader.

During my time with Laugerman, I was able to manage multiple projects and experience many different project types. Professionally,I still have much to learn, and a passion to do so. I constantly apply myself and thrive on rising to challenges presented to me.

One such challenge that inspires me is utilizing BIM technologies, such as Revit Architecture. I have experience using and implementing Revit for both project and firm-wide use.

BIM is the future of our industry, and it ex-cites me to think about how we will change and adapt to fully utilize its capabilities. I am eager to provide my skills and talents to a firm that seeks to provide excellent design services and is utilizing BIM to deliver those services.

The emphasis here was to explore the design concept in Revit to fully understand how the clerestory bands of windows interacted with the interior spaces. The project highlighted for the firm what Revit’s capabilities were out of the box, and was later showcased as a centerpiece in the firm’s main religious marketing materials.

This was the first full implementation of Revit Architecture from start to finish within the firm, and I customized much of the program to fit the needs of the project. BIM was essential in managing the project and coordinating with the international design team. The design focused on optimizing the hatchery processes while planning for future expansion.

This was a great opportunity to become more familiar with a national icon as well as put my Revit modeling skills to task. I coordinated with the artist, structural engineer, and fabricator to model and document this replica of the crown. The project utilizes parametric massing and nesting to control and tweak the shapes within the model.

This was a rapid production proposal for an addition to a high school. The client wanted a dynamic space filled with light and views to the existing athletic fields. Quick modeling and custom view settings were used to meet short deadlines and client expectations.

CHess setDAte: 2010DesCriPtion: Personal chess set

The set is made with layers of black/white acrylic, clear acrylic, and basswood. The goal was to use flat and nonsculptural materials to create three dimensional pieces that interacted with light, touch, and time. The clear acrylic in each piece’s core captures and reacts to the lighting. The basswood is pleasing to the touch and is left untreated in order for it to accept marks and impressions over time as the set is used. The set is produced with AutoCAD and a laser cutter.
