Assignment/Activity Title— Unbroken Summative Project Year—Freshman Skill— Group Presentation Portfolio Category— Media/ Communication The project that I am focusing on in this coversheet was a group project given by Dr. Simel on the book that we read, Unbroken. I found this project extremely interesting because of how the groups were decided, and the vast knowledge I learned about myself through completing this project. At first, each student was given a short “yes or no” survey that had about ten sections. Each section had ten questions that were specific to a style of learning. After taking the survey, Dr. Simel collected everyone’s results, and formed the groups based on each person’s highest score in the categories on the test. I ended up to be best fit in the category of intrapersonal, and joined the intrapersonal group. When contemplating on what project to do, we decided on taking the Myer’s Brigg’s test online as our project. My group mates and I took this test through our personal lives, as well as through the eyes of the main character in the book Unbroken, Louis Zampanelli. When conversing and learning about my learning style, and group mate’s, it helped me understand how people learn different ways, and understand different situations differently as well. After my group mates and I shared our results, my learning style was “ISTP,” or “The Mechanic.” This style meant I learn on a level of structure and personal relationship to what I am learning. It also means I greatly pursued things that are interesting to me. After examining a the different career paths that were mentioned under “ISTP,” there was police officer, carpenter, athlete, lawyer and all sorts of jobs that required mental as well as physical structure. Through this project I learned some of the many occupations that I could be interested in growing up, according to my learning style. When answering the questions through the eyes of Zampanelli, we took a lot of thought in how Louis would answer the Myers Brigg’s test. Through collaborating with my group, I noticed my strengths and weaknesses of answering different types of questions through the point of view of someone else. We had to rely on our adequate understanding

I found this project extremely interesting because of how the groups were decided, and the vast knowledge I learned about myself through completing this project. After taking the survey, Dr. Simel collected everyones results, and formed the groups based on each persons highest score in the categories on the test. I ended up to be best fit in the category of intrapersonal, and joined the intrapersonal group. When contemplating on what project to do, we decided on taking the Myers Briggs test online as our project. My group mates and I took this test through our personal lives, as well as through the eyes of the main character in the book Unbroken, Louis Zampanelli. When conversing and learning about my learning style, and group mates, it helped me understand how people learn different ways, and understand different situations differently as well. After my group mates and I shared our results, my learning style was ISTP, or The Mechanic. This style meant I learn on a level of structure and personal relationship to what I am learning. It also means I greatly pursued things that are interesting to me. After examining a the different career paths that were mentioned under ISTP, there was police officer, carpenter, athlete, lawyer and all sorts of jobs that required mental as well as physical structure. Through this project I learned some of the many occupations that I could be interested in growing up, according to my learning style. When answering the questions through the eyes of Zampanelli, we took a lot of thought in how Louis would answer the Myers Briggs test. Through collaborating with my group, I noticed my strengths and weaknesses of answering different types of questions through the point of view of someone else. We had to rely on our adequate understanding of empathy throughout this project, and had to make sure we did not make any assumptions or fallacies that were not demonstrated throughout Unbroken. Lastly, our group each answered parts of the seventy question test and shared the data. We calculated his learning style before and after the war. Interesting enough, I shared ISTP with Louis before the war. After finishing the project I felt that I greatly benefited from learning about my learning style because I can use information to my benefit when I dont understand something in the future.
