Discover your scent

Have you ever detected someone’s presence by their smell? Sillage is the French term used to describe a trail of scent a person leaves wafting behind them. In perfume, a scent is formed by three layers of ingredients that are called “notes”. The “top note” is the rst scent you smell on a person. The “middle note” is the scent on the

wearer’s body, which lasts for about 3 to 4 hours. Finally, the “base note” is the ingredient that remains on the wearer’s skin and will leave you smelling delightful all day. When purchasing a perfume, it is most important to select a fragrance that enhances your natural body scent and works best with your skin.

Let your senses soar with these six, sweet summer scents as May Wong reveals the secret to finding the perfume that’s just right for you.

Moses and the burning bush. Elijah and the still, small voice.Paul and the blinding light as he travelled on the road to Damascus.

Throughout history, ordinary people just like you and me, have encountered an extraordinary God. There is just something about the presence of God that causes miracles to happen, needs to be met, and lives to be completely transformed.

His presence in His word

At Hope Church’s ‘Encounter God’ Camp in October 2008, Julia Ma prayed for God to speak to her in a new and personal way, “He answered my prayer and gave me a few words,” Julia

says. Those words were, “You are not a mistake.” At first Julia was puzzled because, she admits, it was not what she expected to hear. “But I realised that God was wanting to assure me that … He had a very intentional plan for me,” Julia says, “as our Creator He really does know every part of us.”

Macy Lee also experienced the presence of God in a very real way when she heard a gentle voice telling her that she was complete. “I was feeling a lot of uncertainty and insecurity in a lot of different areas in my life,” Macy explains, “but after being touched by God with a simple word, I suddenly have the faith and strength to believe that through Him I can do all things.”

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stand face-to-face with the One who created the heavens and the earth, the one who created you? Karen Tong discovers the life-changing power in encountering the presence of God.

His presence brings healing

Arriving at Prayer Meeting at Hope Church, Jenny Phillips had a very sore back after falling off a swing. “I just pressed in to God and asked for healing,” Jenny says, “I felt God touch me and immediately I felt the energy in my body, and my back did not hurt at all.” The experience reassured Jenny of her faith in God, “No matter what circumstances I go through, the first person I go to now is Jesus.”

Kin Yew Teng also experienced miraculous healing at Hope Church’s ‘Alive’ prayer meeting. Kin Yew was violently ill, even coughing up blood. “I decided to see the Great Physician,” Kin Yew says, after debating whether he should go to the doctor or to ‘Alive’. When the Pastors called people to the front of the Church for prayer, Kin Yew was the first to step forward. “I fell to the ground and felt something leave me,” Kin Yew says,

“immediately, the tightness in my chest relaxed and I felt a surge of strength charging my body.”

His presence sparks a change

Sometimes, the presence of God brings change in the most unexpected areas of our lives. Lun Ma says God’s daily presence has helped him overcome his ‘phobia’ of reading. “I am now reading my tenth book for the year,” Lun says, “spending time with God and reading the bible has birthed an appreciation for reading in me.”

Jim Yip prayed for a blessing in his workplace during a Wednesday night prayer meeting, “but I didn’t think about it too much afterwards,” Jim says. Not long after, he received a job offer that would double his then current pay. “It was truly God’s favour,” Jim says, “I learnt from this experience to not be afraid to ask for more from God and
