Utrecht is in a competition to be the cultural capital of Europe. It was an idea to pull lines from all the cultural places in Utrecht to the domsquare. Together these lines will form dif-ferent areas on the square and get their own cultural function.

The streat where I lived is one big chaos, like a public playground, where people play with their cars and bikes all over, and I play my part in it and making my own parking places.

For this project I explored the site on a different way, trough all diffent kind of objects I found. The most objects I found were very weird, and weird that’s what St Kilda is all about. Objects witch don’t belong there and this is a thing witch is really impor-tant for the rest of my concept. I want to give people the experience of the other way around, or things that won’t belong there, like my feeling when I explored St Kilda.

I want to swop the functions from land and water. Put the functions from water in land and the functions from land in the water, and by func-tions I mean skating walking playing and bathing.

3D model wich is inspired by the grow proces of gras. When you are lying with your head in the grass, you see the grass shive-ring because of the wind.

The object gives you the same experience when you are clime of sitting on it.

The object can be put in every grass area. It’s a great experience for children but also adults are getting a message trough the object.

I designed a view platform in a way that it has to give people directions how to use it trough form. The slanted walls give the feeling of directional pathways. The holes are details; they are extended from the walls giving the feeling where not to walk.

The platform rises on the highest point on the right –hand side of the object; this enables a greater viewing platform for the ocean vista. The underside of the platform is a multifunctional place with the pos-sibility of becoming a bar, shop or information centre.

Sounds from and trough the sity, my facination.

We live in a very visual focused society and we all find it very im-portant that our environment and seroundings is designed in a nice way, actually the eye is getting precedence over the ear while sound has a lot to do with how we experience our environment and how we feel in it.when an public-space design gets presented, a lot of attention goos to the visual appearance of our environment, but why we never talk about how the relevant space is going to sound, what the user will hear and how we will feel in this new environment?Environmental sound is in my opinion an ignored design component, it is seen as something negative. I would like to approach envoron-mental sounds as someting positive and use as a design tool and ad an extra quality to the public space. How can sound added next to the known parameters such as func-tion, visual quality and technology? Sounds, rhythm, decibels and vibrations, are the invisible elements that we are move trough in the public domain between movement, these element I tryed to capture in a designassignment for the Sijpesteijntunnel, the Leidseveer Tun-nel and the Westplein. I see this place as a gate or entrance to the city and I think that may be a place with more meaning, a place with a quality experience that now is an unpleasant space. The visual, the auditory aspect and light provide a combination that can contrib-ute positively to the experience en de quality of this environment.
