My name is Karolina Dziąbkowska, I live in small village called Zwonowice near Rybnik.

Currently living in Horsens- Denmark, and studying Constructing Architecture as a part of student exchange program. So I`m between Silesian and Horsens University.

I am 22 years old, and since I remember I have always been dreaming about building and creating. It was evaluated – I started drawing and making small project from legos. When I became older, I became more focused and narrowed my interest to architecture.

This is the reason I am where I am today.

Brothers: Tomek – 30 years old Work: construction manager, he is based Slovenia, and

works for ….. company. Michał – 19 years old

High school student, this year he is to take an A level exams and graduate.

Since I was a little girl I have always been interested in painting, drawing, making manual things- creating lots of imaginative works and different forms of design. Over the year I have been

developing my skills, and finaly it became clear to me that I would like to focus more and explore the „architecture“ angle to art. I have became fascinated with the depth of the subject, I started

to read lots of books connected with design, signed up to drawing/design courses.Those happened to be the best thing I have ever done as they helped me to understand the most important aspects of design like spece, line, colors and shapes. It was amazing.....at that point in time I have decided this is what I want to do, I have decided to follow architecture subject . To make this even more interesting, one day I found out that there is a possibiltiy of combining enginieering and architecture

modules - so I thougt, even better!

These rethis path and career further. Therfore when I graduated from high school, I have applied for a degree at Politechnica Śląska. I have spend last 3 years at my native university, and on my

7th term I got the chance to study abroad. This has always been my dream – so I have joined the Horsens university in Denmark on a Constructing Architect course/ degree. I am hoping to gain a lot

of expertise in those subjects, and expand and develop exsisting skills and knowledge.

First of all ART! I can honestly say that I have an art and travel soul. I am fascinated with everything connected to art, manual work, and theatre, things that need to use crazy, creative and original ideas. Therefore I am always happy to participate in art courses, drawing lessons as they always bring something new and make me satisfied with what I have learned. Second of all TRAVELLING! I take every opportunity I have to travel. I spend most of my free time on exploring different places and cultures! I am following the motto of “…trying to visit one new place every year”. So whether it is travelling by car, train, motorbike or bike, the more I can see the better and every method is good. I find travelling a great experience, and it has helped me to broaden my cultural knowledge and awareness. Third of all BOOK! Nothing can relax me more than books, if I still have some “me” time I open a book and move into a magic world. It develops my imagination, and it is known to be excellent to always learn something new.

I have a desire to complete what I have started, I don’t like leaving things unfinished. Sometimes it takes me less time, sometimes a bit more, it is depends on what I am working at. I consider myself as a shy person, and if I do not know people at the beginning I can have problem with working in the group. I am also known to be a really optimistic, happy easy going and hard working person. Sometimes I can be over ambitious by setting the bar too high. As a result trying to cope with the pressure is difficult and at times and might lead to discouragement.

Strengths – I am a very hard working person, with high levels of commitment and determined to achieve given goals. I thrive for a challenge and creating new opportunities. I am efficient, motivated and highly organised. Weaknesses – I could deffinitely improve on my time management skills. Although I am organised I tend to leave things till the last minute, and then working till late and under pressure. I have loads of ideas that would like to put accross, and for some this may look like I am very bossy- perhaps sometimes I should stand back and listen to others and their ideas. Opportunities – I could improve my language skills, this is crucial and really important to me in terms of personal development. I would also like to be more confident and learn how to work in group – it is really important in terms of not only future development but also neccessary to succeed in working life.and of course I gained knowledge about prefabricated elements and not only. Threats - I'm afraid that I am too nervous and this shows during important events- presentations and exams. I can’t handle stress very well and this in turn might have a negative impact on the results.
